We are seeking to hire an experienced Development Manager at Royal London Asset Management to manage our property development and refurbishment projects from inception to completion. You will add value to the portfolios of internal and external clients through extraction of maximum development profit from the creation of good quality investment stock throughout the UK.
About the role
- Manage and monitor development and refurbishment programmes, both pre and post contract.
- Manage and monitor construction contracts during procurement and execution stages.
- Continually review the cost and quality of developments.
- Work with Portfolio Fund Managers & Investment Managers to negotiate terms of development agreements with developers.
- Work with Portfolio Fund Managers & Investment Managers to negotiate terms of agreements to lease with tenants.
- Work with Investment Managers and Letting Agents to facilitate lettings.
- Work with the Facilities Management and Managing Agents to facilitate handover of completed developments.
- Work with the Portfolio Fund Managers when purchasing property
- Deliver all refurbishment and development projects in accordance with RLAM's policies and procedures.
- Deliver all refurbishment and development projects in accordance with RLAM's sustainability polices, and where relevant and applicable, upgrade and update these policies in line with market practice and developments.
- Remain up to date in terms of "best practice" and "exemplar" schemes from elsewhere in the market.
About you
- Must have a Development Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or Property Management background
- Ideally MRICS Accredited or similar, eg, MAPM, MCIOB.
- Experience as a client representative with good collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of the Town Planning system and experience taking a development through the planning life cycle.
- Good understanding of standard construction contracts and procedures, such as JCT Form.
- Good understanding of Procurement routes
- Very good knowledge and understanding of sustainability issues
- Very good technical knowledge and understanding.
- Able to negotiate, make key ability and judgement decisions
- Ability to communicate with people (individually and in team situations) and give clear instructions verbally and in writing
- Good Stakeholder Management
- Analytical and evaluation proficiency
- Report writing and presentational skills
- MS office, including Microsoft project skills
- Knowledge of Argus Developer Software
