About the role:

Are you a skilled IT professional with expertise in identity and access management? Do you have a passion for driving innovation and security in a fast-paced university environment? We are looking for a Senior DevOps Identity Engineer to work with a team of engineers in managing and maintaining our identity and access management systems.

As a critical member of our IT Services Team, you will play a key role in ensuring our IT infrastructure is modern, secure, and user-friendly. You will work closely with the IT Leadership team, providing technical expertise and mentorship while delivering high-value projects that support the university's digital transformation.

Key responsibilities include:

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead and mentor the DevOps Identity Engineering team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment. The role involves overseeing the development of identity federation and single sign-on (SSO) solutions, ensuring compliance with key security regulations such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and Cyber Essentials. You will manage identity and access management services across both cloud and on-premises platforms, develop monitoring solutions, and support mobile device management (MDM) and BYOD security initiatives. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in IT strategic planning and decision-making while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance our IT services.

About you:

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra, alongside hands-on experience with SAML and OAuth 2.0. They will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to successfully manage complex IT projects. Exceptional communication skills are essential, enabling effective engagement with stakeholders at all levels. Additionally, the candidate should have experience managing cloud-based and outsourced IT services, coupled with thorough knowledge of security compliance standards, including ISO 27001, GDPR, and Cyber Essentials.

You must be capable of handling demanding customers, embedding a culture of service within teams, and representing technical leadership in both external and internal meetings and forums. Additionally, you should hold a relevant business or systems-based undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience. Experience in leadership within the UK education sector, operating within an Agile, Service Managed environment, and writing process and policy documents is highly desirable.
