Design Programme Manager (UX/UI)

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

We believe in better. And we make it happen.

Better content. Better products. And better careers.

Working in Tech, Product or Data at Sky is about building the next and the new. From broadband to broadcast, streaming to mobile, SkyQ to Sky Glass, we never stand still. We optimise and innovate.

We turn big ideas into the products, content and services millions of people love.

And we do it all right here at Sky.

What you'll do

Are you a designer at heart but organiser by trade? Join our band of Design Programme Managers (DPMs), who work with the design team to ensure that products and services are delivered on time, on budget and with excellent quality. Our DPMs are advocates for the design team, helping to scope, prioritise and manage our work, supporting the day- to-day running and scaling of the team. They facilitate collaboration between Design, Product and Technology to ensure that stakeholders and designers are aligned, have visibility into the roadmap and are ready to tackle new and existing projects alike. The DPMs enable designers to spend more time designing, leading to better product and service outcomes for our customers.

What you'll do

  • Translate ambiguity into action, you don't need a full brief to move forward, you see the bigger picture and you're comfortable in the grey, you're able to shape structure from open or evolving briefs.
  • Be the connective tissue, you instinctively link creative thinkers, design experts, executional, and technical worlds fluidly.
  • Naturally build tempo across teams, helping ideas travel from concept to creation, owning the momentum, unblocking paths as needed.
  • Be in the meetings recording and inputting on ways forward.
  • Read the room, you sense when the team's energy dips and know how to reignite it.
  • Work with budgets, make strong cases for your teams crafting needs and have your finger on the pulse to ensure their needs are met in terms of tools and production methods and working with potential partners.
  • Manage the project pipeline and resources, maintain a transparent project backlog, facilitate, and sometimes create processes to track and communicate requirements, progress or risks across the programme of work.

What you'll bring

  • A deep understanding of the creative process, from initial strategy to final execution.
  • Experience building and nurturing strong, collaborative partnerships in design-led teams.
  • Strong understanding of how to approach a creative brief, proactively contributing to creative projects.
  • Proven track record developing innovative ideas while navigating real-world constraints of budgets, timelines and client objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with changing briefs and shifting deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to new projects, internal 'clients' and shifting priorities on a regular basis.
  • Take proactive projects responsibility from conception to completion. Comfortable defending projects, justifying decisions, answering critical questions and addressing challenges confidently to internal clients and teams.
  • An entrepreneurial mind-set and can-do attitude with a willingness to adapt as needed; agency experience is a plus.
