Design Manager

We're working with a well-established SME high end main contractor that has been delivering high-quality residential schemes across London and the South East for over a decade. With projects typically ranging from £5 million to £15 million, they combine the agility of a smaller business with the professionalism and ambition of a larger player.
They're now looking to appoint a Design Manager to join their growing team and take ownership of design coordination across multiple live and pre-construction residential developments.
The Role:
This is a pivotal position that will see the successful candidate working closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure design integrity, buildability, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. You'll be involved from early-stage tender support through to delivery on site, acting as the key interface between design and construction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead design coordination across pre-construction and live residential projects
• Review and manage design information to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Liaise with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve technical queries
• Support tender submissions with design input and buildability reviews
• Attend site meetings and monitor design progress against programme
• Ensure all design documentation meets regulatory and contractual standards
Ideal Candidate:
• Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contracting environment
• Strong understanding of residential construction processes and technical detailing
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work across multiple projects and manage competing priorities
• Familiarity with BIM processes and digital collaboration tools is a plus
