As the Design Manager your job is to review, comment, approve and oversee all documents relating to new projects IPSUM you are working on. ICP/DNO Design experience at 33/66/132kV is essential for this role and BESS/PV/Renewable technology design experience (desirable)
Your New Role
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Ipsum Power Ltd and its customers.
- Renewable sector experience at in BESS is desirable with a proven track record in this sector.
- ICP experience >33kV is essential, with a proven track record in this sector.
- Manage multiple and/or major projects from a design perspective safely, competently, and effectively to time and budget.
- Review all subcontractor designs, approve and issue out to the clients/DNO's for their approval.
- Ensure project designs meet all current legislation - DNO G81's, HASAWA, NRSWA C.O.S.H.H. etc.
- Total control of subcontract designers, ensure they are meeting program, and that designs are correct and can pass the relevant client/DNO reviews.
- Lead and manage the in-house design management team.
- Able to review primary and protection electrical designs (Essential)
- Able to review civil designs (Desirable)
- Able to review Power System Studies (Desirable)
- Identify and inform Ipsum Power Private Ltd Directors / Senior Managers of commercial opportunities as appropriate.
- Produce front end programme (MSP) for certain designs using Project Management tools. (Desirable)
- AutoCAD knowledge is also desirable.
- Report weekly on project designs to the senior management team
Planning and Organising
- Review project designs on completion with your line manager to assess if programmes and budgets were met.
- Assist as required from an office point the sales and tendering team, when circumstances outside of the normal arise.
- Works closely with project managers to ensure designs are understood and implemented
- Liaise with line manager on a daily/weekly basis to manage critical dates.
- Full job pack handover to be produced, and handover meeting to be attended as required with PM's.
People
- Work with the Major projects teams to ensure safe, effective, and efficient implementation of IPSUM POWER Private LTD's operations.
- Meeting with Project Manager at handover stage
- Contribute to wider team: advise, share knowledge and experience based on expertise.
- Liaise with colleagues across Ipsum Power Private Ltd organisation to ensure effective completion of tasks.
- Lead and manage the in-house design management team.
Customer
- Represent Ipsum Power Ltd when required at customers and other company meetings.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with customers and other external parties.
- Drive subcontractor designers to ensure programs and budgets are adhered to
Quality
- Implement Ipsum Power Private Ltd approach to Quality in all you do and complete all work to high standards.
- Identify and implement areas of improvement in Ipsum Power Ltd processes and operations.
- Ensure working practices and processes are followed.
KPI
- Designs to be completed as per programs, to ensure pre agreed deadlines are met.
- Design assistance to be given to other departments as required.
About You
Required Qualifications & Professional Membership(s):
- Competent and able to show design skill as per the above voltage levels.
- A minimum of 3 years relevant post qualification experience.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Experience of operating in a commercial, multi-divisional organisation.
- Detailed understanding of current HV electrical designs.
- Solid and up to date knowledge of statutory requirements, legislation and technical advances.
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety practice and Risk Assessment processes.

- Good time management and an ability to plan ahead.
