The Role

Role will include the following duties:

  • Manage a team of mechanical, electrical and public health engineers to develop a Building Services design to BSRIA stages 4a -4c level of output.
  • Manage a team of Revit technicians in the production of MEP services models to stage 4a-c level of detail.
  • R esponsible for dealing successfully with Clients and other professionals to foster and maintain good relationships and to create future opportunities
  • Attends interviews and contributes to bid preparation.
  • Awareness of consultant appointment conditions
  • Define and agree brief with Client
  • Good knowledge of construction procurement and associated risks to the business.
  • Leads larger scale schemes and co-ordinate all disciplines being the main Client point of contact throughout a project
  • Takes ownership and consistently delivers profitable schemes
  • Competently represents all disciplines of Hoare Lea at project meetings
  • Manage and prioritise the workload of a project team including specialist groups.
  • Host and chair team management meetings
  • Effectively delegate, manage and check work undertaken by others.
  • Able to develop effective relationships with well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Actively leads self and identifies opportunities and providing support for career development of others
  • Monitoring project expenditure and reporting to directors.
  • Ensure quality standards and technical accuracy is delivered.
  • Manage and mitigate risks to business
  • Effectively reports and openly communicates at all levels internally and externally.
  • Enhanced technical experience
  • Contribute to the development of our methods of working to improve our efficiency.
  • Develop the firm's overall capability in delivering this service.
  • Produce order of fees required to undertake specific detailed design duties.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experienced pro-active building services design manager.
  • Has had extensive experience in the production and delivery of stage 4 detailed design directly working for a MEP installer.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations in a non-adversarial manner
  • Strong technical knowledge in primary engineering discipline (mechanical ideal) and work to relevant and applicable regulations, design guides etc.
  • Good understanding of other disciplines
  • IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills to effectively work to timescales and deadlines
  • Extensive relevant industry experience
  • Commitment to effectively deliver to demanding timescales.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Work under own initiative
  • Provide a lead role in an integrated project design team with other construction professionals.
  • Acts in a professional, personable and competent manner.
  • Positively leads a team.
  • Proactively supports and motivates team members.
  • Develop effective client and fellow professional relationships for future business growth.
  • Show commitment to personal and continuing professional development.
  • Actively contributes to the wider engineering and construction industry.
  • Be conversant with the use of Revit for review and comment purposes.
  • Have a good level of understanding of the detail design requirements for a stage 4 building services design.
  • Knowledge of buildability and commissioning requirements is essential.
  • Able to interpret BIM requirements to ensure the firm is fully compliant .
