The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy.

Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Sizewell C Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead the development of the new seawater desalination plant at Sizewell C. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of the project. The project aims to treat seawater to potable standards for both domestic and industrial use, filling the gap caused by expected delays in the piped mains water supply from Essex and Suffolk Water.

You will support the design, installation, and operation of the Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant located in the Temporary Construction Area (TCA). You'll look to ensure that all mechanical, electrical, process, instrumentation, and automation (MEPICA) elements are integrated effectively. Your role will also include managing the intake and outtake pipelines, as well as the Marine Pumping Station (PS) Compound, which is critical for seawater intake and brine outfall.

The Role

As the Desalination Project Manager you will lead the delivery of the desalination plant. You will oversee the Desalination Contract, manage technical and engineering processes, and ensure seamless coordination across areas such as safety, health, and environmental practices, design, construction, and plant operation.

Strong leadership will be key in ensuring the project meets client specifications, stays on track with timelines, and adheres to budgetary requirements. A key part of your role is managing risks, facilitating changes, and upholding the highest technical standards, contributing significantly to the success and efficiency of the desalination plant and the overall progress of the Sizewell C project.

The Skills

Understand the technical and assurance requirements and associated process for a potable drinking water Desalination system to UK regulations.

Utility project management in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Good track record on the delivery of complex projects

Desirable

Familiarity with nuclear power plant projects or similar high-compliance environments.

Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Project Management experience of water systems via a Design and Build route.

Knowledge of environmental management and sustainability practices.
