About the service

Set within picturesque landscaped gardens in Cheadle, Stockport, Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal offers a range of comprehensive inpatient mental health services for young people and adults. The focus of our service is to help people to live their best life in a safe and supportive environment.

Our PICU services have been designed to support people in a severe phase of their condition, who cannot be managed in acute services. Our dedicated PICU services place us at the forefront of specialised intensive care, and our highly trained teams can support people with a range of mental health difficulties and behaviours that may challenge, along with co-existing issues (such as substance misuse).

Working as part of a multi-skilled, experienced, motivated and creative Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will be responsible for contributing to the efficient and safe day-to-day delivery of effective clinical care and risk management.

Job Description

The role of the Deputy Ward Manager is to provide senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team in support of the Ward Manager. The duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Ward Manager in providing day to day management and supervision of the ward
  • Assisting the Ward manager in providing management and supervision of a team of registered and unregistered staff
  • Implementing best practice across the ward
  • Support changes within the service
  • Responsible for the clinical direction of the service
  • Support the delivery of personalised care and contribute to service improvement
  • Supporting and contributing to MDT practice
  • Implementation and evaluation of therapeutic interventions within an overall care programme
  • Assisting the ward manager in ensuring that care and treatment is provided meets the standards set by regulators.

About You

  • Active Registration with the NMC, meeting the requirements of Revalidation Trained Mentor
  • Clinical Supervision experience essential, training desirable
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development and intent to maintain and develop Continued professional development and leadership
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience in Mental Health or Learning Disability services
  • At least 3 years, or equivalent experience post-registration

Pay enhancements:

Monday to Friday 22:00 - 6:30 20% of hourly rate

Saturday All Day 20% of hourly rate

Sunday All Day 50% hourly rate

Bank holidays All Day 50% hourly rate
