Job overview

Are you a dynamic, forward thinking Nurse, either in a junior management role or have the aptitude and skills to move into such a role? If the answer is yes, then this could be the role for you. We have a role for a Deputy Ward Manager on Moselle House, a 12 bedded low secure forensic LD ward.

The successful individual must be able to demonstrate commitment and passion for Learning Disabilities health care and have the drive and ambition to provide safe, quality and patient-centred care to our service users and their families/carers. The post holder will work closely with and deputise for the ward manager in their absence.

The post holder will be a senior member of the ward nursing team, working closely with your other Band 6 colleagues and providing a strong clinical presence and leadership to the ward. The successful candidate will also provide support, teaching and supervision to other junior members of the team.

Main duties of the job

  • To participate as an effective member of the MDT and be responsible for the development and implementation of a patient centred approach to care: assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating the care needs of patients and their carers.
  • To interpret the significance of clinical observations, act upon them; and communicate information to other multi-disciplinary team members after making the necessary clinical judgement and in line with clinical protocols.
  • To determine nursing priorities and plan patient care accordingly including full risk assessment, inform the Ward manager when changes in circumstances may affect standards of care.
  • To meet the mental, physical, psychological, social and cultural needs of the patients, using research based knowledge and skills to support patients to maintain their individual identities.
  • To recognise the needs of the family/carers, ensuring their involvement in care where appropriate whilst offering support and education with empathy.
  • To ensure that measurable high standards of nursing care are maintained and participate in the setting and review of standards and nursing audits and in supporting staff in delivering and achieving high standards of nursing care

Working for our organisation

The partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) is going from strength to strength since it was originally established in 2021 forming the North London Mental Health Partnership.

Why choose to join the Partnership?

  • We believe that by working together, our two Trusts can achieve more for the residents of North Central London and our patients than we can by working apart.
  • Deliver the best care using the most up-to-date practise in supporting those with mental health illnesses.
  • Transforming and creating a positive environment for our service users, staff and visitors.
  • We offer flexible working, a wide range of health and wellbeing initiatives, NHS Pension and so much more.
  • Generous Annual Leave Allowance
  • NHS Discounts in a large variety of retail stores and services.
  • We have excellent internal staff network support groups.

The postholder will need to be comfortable working in an environment of complex matrix management arrangements and will at all times behave and align with our Trusts' values and cultural pillars:

  • We are kind
  • We are respectful
  • We work together
  • We keep things simple
  • We empower
  • We are proudly diverse
