Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? Are you passionate about supporting children and families? If so, look no further! We are currently offering a job share opportunity for two part time Deputy Nursery Manager's to join our dynamic team at our Early Years Service in Gunthorpe.

Here at Barnardo's we believe that every child deserves the best start to life. This is an exciting opportunity to support the ongoing development of this setting and achieve outstanding quality provision for the local schools and wider community.

We also provide a wrap around service that provides care for school age children who will attend our breakfast, after school club and we also run a holiday club. The successful candidate will need to have previous experience with all age groups and needs to be confident in dealing with challenging situations.

Play House Preschool Out of School/Holiday Club, Gunthorpe Road, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE4 7TS

Starting Salary - we will offer this role from step 2, which will be £24,440, per annum.

Essential requirements

  • Minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in relevant field
  • Experience in working with Children in a childcare setting of ages 2-12 and their families.
  • Experience working in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding and working with vulnerable children.

Some of the Key Responsibilities include:

  • Create and Develop activities within the provision, plan programmes of activities for children and young people.
  • Providing a 'duty' management role to the service, offering information, advice and support with operational day-to-day running of the service.
  • Ensuring consistent use of policies, procedures and processes.
  • Attending appropriately to the physical and emotional needs of children and young people, including health and safety aspects of equipment, environment and activities in consultation with Children's Services Manager.
  • To establish fair, respectful, trusting, supportive and constructive relationships with parents and children, communicating sensitively and effectively
  • Screening and leading the referrals process.
  • Lead in establishing and maintaining relationships with other agencies within Peterborough/Cambridgeshire to support children, young people and families.
  • To contribute to the financial stability and sustainability of the Preschool, Out of School and holiday club by. promoting and marketing the setting, arranging show rounds and visits and working together with parents to ensure continuity of service.

More about the Service

Barnardo's Out of School Holiday Club opened in September 2017 and the pre-school was set up shortly after. The setting has built a reputation for working closely with the community, providing quality support for children ages 2 - 12 years and is currently assessed as "Good" by Ofsted in July 2021. We are proud to say that all profit we make from our settings go back into Children's Services provision, providing much needed support to vulnerable children and families in the area.
