Job Introduction

Milton Keynes Youth Justice Service aims to divert young people away from formal justice systems and towards specialist assessments and interventions so that they can achieve and thrive.

We use innovative, creative, and inspiring methods to understand and reduce offending behaviour and minimise the exploitation of children. We regularly take the lead in important areas such as speech and language assessments to reduce exclusions, and our pilot project to reduce knife crime and serious youth violence has since rolled out across the region.

We have a rewarding opportunity to join us as a Deputy Team Manager, where you'll play a key role in helping us set and deliver strategic priorities, and in ensuring the smooth running of the tea. You'll be based at our modern city centre offices in Milton Keynes.

Main Responsibility

Supervise the staff based within the Youth Justice and Support Service on behalf of the Partner Agencies and Stakeholders.

To be responsible for allocation of work and of the day-to-day requirements of the Youth Justice and Support Service ensuring referrals are prioritised, services are effective and offered promptly in line with national standards and guidance.

Ensure that the provision of services by staff conforms to best practice as defined by local and National standards, legal contexts, and expectations.

Deliver training to staff to ensure services are up to date and delivered in line with effective practice evidence.

To assist with the development and delivery of policies and procedures and carry out quality assurance reports and audits, reporting back to relevant partners and the strategic board on service delivery.

For this role you are required to have a Full UK Driving Licence and provide evidence of your Vehicle Insurance with Business cover and use of a vehicle . If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your Licence prior to starting the role

Are passionate, self motivated, and enthusiastic about delivering high quality services to children, victims, caregivers, and communities.

Have a drive to develop staff and meet the essential criteria for the post.

Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated 'site based' or 'home based'. 'Site based' roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst 'home based' roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
