About the team:
We're a large team broken down into various areas of specialist knowledge which you'll contribute towards and develop your practice within.
The Intake and Assessment Team is our short-term pathway and front door to our service. Its focus is on strengths-based conversations with service users to promote independence and prevent deterioration.
We also have a long-term pathway which focuses on adult social care assessment under the Care Act 2014. We carry out assessment of needs and promote strength-based practice to identify people's needs and coordinate support.
As the specialist mental health team within Adult Social Care, we have the specialist knowledge and responsibility to manage Section 117 Mental Health Act duties on behalf of the local authority, which involves working with actively and previously detained mental health service users, managing risk and coordinating their support and review.
We also manage forensic mental health cases, providing social supervision for service users with restrictions from the Ministry of Justice, working closely with external agencies such as the Campbell Centre, Marlborough House, Police, Probation and Housing, and involvement with Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements.
Additionally, we hold responsibility for the assessment and management of rough sleepers, working closely with our in-house Rough Sleeper Team.

Main Responsibility
As a Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in developing the team to deliver the needs of the service. You will:
- Ensure that service users in need, of care and support are safeguarded and their wellbeing is promoted effectively, in line with national legislation and policy.
- Work in partnership with key agencies, ensuring collaboration and information sharing for the benefit of the service user and significant others.
- Manage and supervise Social workers, Assistant Social Workers, community support workers and Newly Qualified Social workers through their ASYE, ensuring managed casework is allocated and monitored across the team's area of responsibility.
- Manage and ensure that all staff time is used efficiently and effectively delivering the most benefit to service users within available resources.
- Assist the team managers in building a strong and cohesive team.
- There will also be a particular emphasis on the identification and management of risks by individuals and to others, enabling service users to live independently in the community with the appropriate level of support.
- Ensure assessments, care planning and case work reviews are conducted in line with agreed national standards and performance targets are met.
- Deputise for the Team Manager and provide operational management support and supervision to front line staff.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Ideally you'll have experience in the operational delivery of a mental health service. Applications will only be considered from those who hold a social work qualification and our registered with Social Work England.

For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle. Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.

Our roles are either designated 'site based' or 'home based'. 'Site based' roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst 'home based' roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
