Full Time/Permanent - 40 hours per week

(Based in New Malden)

£37K per annum, depending on exp. (Applicant must have a NVQ 3/4 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent will be considered)

Our purpose is to provide the highest quality care within a homely environment in the New Malden area, the accommodation will provide nurture and comfort, in addition an individual focused based person centred approach. The Residential Care we provide will be for 8 to 17 year olds, we are proud to say we enable our Children and Young People to fulfil their potential and pursue their interests.

The welfare of our Children and Young People is paramount, we are looking for a Deputy Manager whom will be able to show resilience and tact. A key point of contact in the absence of the Registered Manager, the candidate should have experience of translating policy into practice, in addition the ability to organise, direct and develop staffing teams, also the ability to motivate the staffing team and act as a positive role model, by leading by example.

The Deputy Manager will be expected to think outside of the box and show creativeness and flare, in addition using best practice models to guide decision making.

Main Responsibilities:

You will guide the team to promote and support the Children and Young People in our care, in leading a life of positive development by providing a safe and nurturing environment.

A vital part of your role will be ensuring that we provide all of our Children and Young People with emotional and social support, helping them to develop meaningful relationships with other Children and Young People and adults, encouraging staff to plan activities and ensure their wishes and preferences are met.

As a Deputy Manger you will encourage and enable each Child and Young Persons self-esteem to be raised in a positive manner and ensure that they are respected and valued, their voices are heard and recorded via various means such as house meetings and key work sessions, in addition the monitoring of these and their sustenance.

Encourage the staffing team to support our Children and Young People to make positive life choices and achievable levels of independence that help them develop to their full potential, and receive the essential care and attention.

The Deputy Manger will be responsible for a high level of record keeping, attending meetings with LA, SS, Ofsted and other professionals. Great emphasis and importance will be attached to monitoring, and record keeping, observations, monthly progress charts assessed and reported, in addition updating of Children and Young People files, care plans, risk assessments and behaviour plans to be amended and reviewed were necessary, promoting health and well-being and ensuring our staff team promote best interests when caring for our Children and Young People.

Continually assessing the Children's and Young Peoples needs, you will be responsible for the formulation, implementation and review of care plans.

Required Attributes:

A Deputy Manger should have:

• The ability to organise, plan and take responsibility

• The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both with colleagues and children, verbally and in writing

• The ability to motivate, aid and guide children in their self-development

• The ability to set appropriate examples for children at all times

• The ability to listen and respond responsibly with sensitivity

• The ability to manage children who display disruptive or challenging behaviour and to guide/direct staff in managing that behaviour

• Ability to understand and implement National Minimum Standards

Salary From: 37000.00 To: 39,999.00
