JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

This role is Responsible for oversight and Supervision of IMS planning activities in support of the Scheduled Maintenance & upgrade facility (SMU) maintenance program on RSAF Typhoon aircraft. Managing programme planning/scheduling and document development/delivery e.g., Statement of Work, basis of estimate, resource planning (Labour & Non-Labour) planning instructions and configuration control documents. Resolving problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by reference to approved data in accordance with Engineering Policies. Maintaining standards of all documentation and data with respect to aircraft maintenance and servicing. Ensuring that Continuing Airworthiness (CA) activities on Typhoon aircraft are carried out in accordance with BAE Systems Saudi Arabia SALAM Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and the Quality Management System. You will be responsible for direct line management of IMS Planning personnel. Ensuring new members of the Maintenance Support Team are mentored by an experienced MSE. Also, you may be required to work and supervise outside normal boundaries. Such working is subject to the requirements of the SMU Quality System.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prioritise tasks in liaison with the Technical Documentation/IMS Planning Team Lead
- Ensure all work tasked by the Technical Documentation/IMS Planning Team Lead is carried out and any issues that are likely to impact the aircraft programme are highlighted.
- Tasking MSE’s with the authoring of Task Definitions to satisfy scheduled maintenance requirements as agreed during the PIRM process for aircraft entering SMU.
- Tasking MSE’s with the authoring of Task Definitions to satisfy corrective action requirements, including ADF’s, LIM’s and ADH’s as agreed during the PIRM process for aircraft entering SMU.
- Tasking MSE’s with the authoring of Task Definitions to satisfy corrective action requirements for faults found, during scheduled maintenance, on aircraft in SMU.
- Assisting in the provision of Maintenance data for BAE Systems internal reporting applications and managing reports generated from Maintenix when necessary.
- Assist the development and review of Business Processes, Work Instructions and Working Aids used for IMS, ensuring any proposed changes are compliant with RSAF Regulation and IMS Core Team informed.
- Assist Managers and SMU personnel in providing specialist knowledge and input to IMS and Maintenix.
- Ensure the Business Processes and Work Instructions within eQMS are adhered to by all members of the Maintenance Support Team.
- Raising of Technical Publications Requests (TPRF’s) against approved data when necessary.
- Attend Forums inclusive of the PIRM/PORM and Gateway Reviews, when nominated by the Technical Documentation/IMS Planning Team Lead
- Liaise with SMU Manager, Team Leaders and SoW Planner to determine the prioritisation and allocation of additional engineering, for Aircraft to commence or in Depth Maintenance.
- Ensure that all activity within their control is permitted by the appropriate delegated authorization.
- Assist the IMS Implementation Manager with the development and review of IMS business processes, work instructions and working aids relevant to SMU ensuring any proposed changes are compliant with RSAF regulation and are communicated to the IMS Core team.
- Ensure that good communication and liaison is maintained with both internal and external agencies, with particular attention to SMU aircraft acceptance & dispatch, Technical Queries and any reporting commitments to the Typhoon Support Centre (TSC) and relevant stakeholders.
- Provide support to electronic Form 700 or Engineering Support System (ESS) Quality Assurance (QA) and data QA checks, such that they are carried out when required and documented appropriately, highlighting issues to line management.
- Support the acceptance and departure procedures for SMU aircraft, from a maintenance data, documentation, and CA Records perspective.
- Assist the QA department with investigations arising from Customer enquiries and complaints.
- Ensure Data integrity in both Maintenix (IMS) and ESS throughout maintenance visit of aircraft through SMU.
- Always follow the correct practices, behaviours and observe safety precautions, to comply with the requirements detailed in SALAM’s Support Safety Case Report.
- Actively support your team’s contribution to SALAM’s Safety Management Systems and Maintenance Error Management Systems.
- Limiting the requirement for overtime by effective planning.
- Takes the appropriate action to address any poor performance, highlighted by Managers or supervisors, by members of the IMS MSE team.
- When necessary, take appropriate action for the resolution of any disciplinary matters for any members of the IMS MSE team.
- Provides a level of direct supervision to personnel appropriate to their skills and competency to ensure that IMS MSE’s are maintained to the required quality standards.
- Provide training / instruction to new arrivals or visitors, when tasked by managers.
- Take a pro-active approach to your annual performance appraisal.
- With line manager support, acquire all necessary delegated authorizations to perform your role, ensuring validity dates do not expire.
- Complete all mandated training, ensuring training validity dates remain current.
- Complete any other reasonable duties or requests that are made by your line management.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
- A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical or computer science discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA. OR Part 66 Licensed (Current or lapsed) or suitable equivalent technical license acceptable to M&CA
- Have extensive proven aircraft experience in a relevant (CA or maintenance related role)
- English Language proficiency.
Desirable
- NVQ5/BTEC/HND or Degree in a relevant technical or computer science discipline.
- Incorporated or technician Engineer with an appropriate professional institute such as Saudi Council of Engineers, Royal Aeronautical Society or institute of Engineering & Technology.
- Broad Aerospace and defence industry knowledge.
RECRUITMENT
Essential:
- Able to describe or demonstrate a Familiar level of knowledge of Continuing Airworthiness, the aircraft types managed and the aircraft maintenance environment.
- Able to demonstrate a Familiar level of knowledge of M&CA Regulation and also a working knowledge of Part M, Part 145 and the relationship between partner organisations.
- Able to demonstrate a practitioner level of skills in Fleet Planning and Aircraft Maintenance programme, plus a Familiar level of skills in reliability programme and Modification management.
- Able to demonstrate a Familiar level of CA records-related skills.
- Able to demonstrate a Familiar level of knowledge of IMS Planning skills.
- Able to demonstrate a Practitioner level of skills in utilization of information management systems.
Desirable:
- Relevant Type training (Q Course)
- Understanding and application of human factors, error management, health & safety and proactive hazard analysis, appropriate to the role.
- Previous experience within a Quality Assurance/Control organisation.
- A Familiar level of knowledge of IMS and ESS data management
- Previous experience of working with an electronic quality management tool.
- An awareness of BAESSA aircraft maintenance-related policies & procedures.
