Job Title: Deputy Housing Reviews Manager

Salary Range: £46,014 - £55,758 per annum

Permanent Fulltime

Location: Housing Dept 90 Putney Bridge Road

Other essential information: Working in both Richmond and Wandsworth Boroughs

Objective of role

Are you an experienced and knowledgeable housing professional with experience of robust decision making against a legislative framework?

Do you have experience in conducting housing reviews and sharing your expertise within a multidisciplinary housing options service?

If you are passionate about evolving case law that influences homelessness services, this role could be perfect for you.

In this position, you will support the Housing Register and Reviews Manager by overseeing a team of reviewing officers and managing a caseload of both statutory and non-statutory reviews. Your role is crucial to ensuring that our review decisions are robust and legally sound, ultimately helping to shape the quality of homelessness services across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils.

You will be working across both boroughs, contributing to a fast-paced environment where your decisions will have a direct impact on service delivery and the lives of those at risk of homelessness.

About the role

You will lead and manage a small team of reviewing officers to ensure that reviews are carried out in accordance with the Review Regulations 2018 and with the relevant legislation or allocation scheme in mind.

You will operate in a fast-paced working environment working to statutory deadlines and ensuring that reviews are carried out in accordance with the relevant timescales.

You will lead and support your team focusing maximizing opportunities to improve decision making and ensuring that we are in the best possible position to deal with any challenge on appeal.

You will work collaboratively with other Council services to ensure that learning opportunities shared in a meaningful and informative way.

You will lead on dealing with s204 appeals, Judicial Reviews supporting the reviewing officer and attending Court, and advising counsel where appropriate.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you will need:

A detailed knowledge of housing legislation and an analytical approach to your work, you will be able to able to critically evaluate information and communicate complex decisions clearly in writing.

Experience of attending court, providing detailed case information, and advising counsel on short notice when necessary.

Experience in performance appraisal and development, ensuring your team meets its objectives.

Experience of collaborative working as part of a wider management team in a fast paced, front line housing service

Experience of managing, motivating and supervising staff.
