Deputy Head of IT for Credit and Lending

Job Introduction

UKTBN is responsible for managing (both developing and running) the systems and applications supporting the banks existing business services related to lending and the banks ledger. The role holder will support the Head of Department as required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Create and implement annual departmental business plans
  • Prioritisation of workload for teams with key business counterparts (e.g. in the Product area)
  • Oversee safe, secure delivery of required 'change' initiatives of all departmental functional areas, including Core Lending, Credit, General Ledger, document creation, regulated mortgage applications and other ancillary systems
  • Oversee safe, secure delivery of required 'run' maintenance changes required to keep the systems operational for the business
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant IT controls and to the UK IT Development Process
  • Ensure relevant systems and processes are maintained within acceptable risk tolerance levels
  • Engage as appropriate with Business and IT stakeholders up to C-suite level
  • Engage as appropriate with Group stakeholders
  • Engage as appropriate with Governance areas e.g. Risk, Compliance, Audit and Supplier Management
  • Engage with 3rd Party suppliers as required
  • Manage escalations appropriately, whether from within or external
  • Maintain an overview of all teams within the department
  • Provide line management as required
  • Attend working groups and committees as required
  • Support the CORE Banking modernisation programme

  • Significant understanding of Lending and Ledger systems and Products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to act with courage and integrity including appropriate challenge when necessary
  • Be able to actively participate in team meetings and other test forums
  • The ability to build effective networks with stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Tooling - Hands on experience working on JIRA and Confluence
  • Cross-role/domain experience (banking, analysis , development) is desirable
