High Close is a successful non maintained special school offering day and residential provision for young people with complex S ocial , E motional and M ental H ealth needs. Staff within the residential care teams support young people to be able toaccess their education and provide a waking day curriculum to enable them to learn anddevelop social skills and coping strategies whilst providing them opportunities to experience new challenges and adventures .

It's a challenging environment , calling for resilience , patience and tolerance, helping us to ensure children can achieve success in a safe environment . Staff have the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary team including Education ,Therapy and both day and residential C are teams . Staff are given extensive training to meet the needs of the young people including Therapeutic Crisis Interventio n.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within our professional and highly motivated team as the Deputy Head of Care.

Our preferred candidate will have extensive experience working within a residential special school setting or similar environment. They will have substantial experience in leading and managing teams of staff and understand the impo rtance of positive professional working relationships within a multi-disciplinary environment and be able to communicate effectively.

The successful applicant will have a good understanding of the additional needs of our young people and experience of working with children and young people within a SEMH special school or similar environment.

You will work closely with the Head of Care to lead the care provision at High Close School. You will have good understanding and knowledge of the National Minimum Standards for Residential Special Schools and how to implement them within the residential units . You will support the leadership and management of the day and residential provision and also the Family Resource Team.

The preferred candidate will have experience of managing Child Protection and Safeguarding concerns and be able to complete the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead duties as part of the r ole. You will have experience of working with families and carers of young people and be confident in addressing sensitive issues in a tactful and understanding manner to ensure the best outcomes for the young people.

The role is term time only (plus a training week in the summer holidays) and will require the successful candidate to work additional hours each week to receive full pa y over the school holiday periods. You may be required to complete some on call duties which will be paid on a fixed rate during term time .
