Job overview
We are looking for a highly experienced and self-motivated Senior Manager with extensive construction work experience within the NHS and or Healthcare sector (or similar) in the built environment to be part of our Estates Capital Projects team.
As the Deputy to the Head of Estates Capital Projects, you will be site based full time and report directly to the Head of Estates Capital Projects and have a strong track record with the delivery of Capital construction projects within NHS Healthcare environment, be a highly motivated, experienced team player with excellent financial and communication skills and have experience in managing staff.
The Team are responsible for the delivery of the physical environment aspect of the Trust's capital programme whilst achieving the objectives and visions of the organisation. The main challenge for the post holder will be to manage and support the team in the implementation of Capital projects whilst minimising the operational impact on the Trust teamed with developing systems/processes to ensure best practice is adopted for all tasks undertaken.
As part of the interview process, applicants shortlisted for interview will be required to present a 10 minute presentation.
Main duties of the job
- You will be required to support, and line manage the Capital Project Team and work alongside other senior managers within the Directorate to deliver the capital programme and support in the delivery of the Estates Backlog projects on all the Trust site.
- You will be working alongside Trust stakeholders to develop schemes, with responsibilities for procurement, control of design teams and be accountable for financial performance, programme, quality delivery and supporting on business case development.
- You will have a Master's degree or equivalent in a Construction related field and evidence of CPD.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional knowledge acquired through a degree or equivalent and specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate courses and experience to Masters Degree equivalent. Plus an in depth managerial, financial, and strategic knowledge.
- Degree in Engineering, building related subjects.
- Full Membership of Professional Institution or, min. 5 years Senior Management experience in Healthcare Capital Project works.

- Management Qualifications.

Essential criteria
- Effective management of people in the Estates Capital Team.
- Provision of expert specialist advice ensuring a high degree of precision is applied to action plans as required.
- Financial analysis and management skills;

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of managing, planning and budgeting for multiple, large & complex Healthcare Capital Project works.
- Experience in the management of a high quality, responsive and cost effective estates service with specific customer focus.
Communication skills

- Must be able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation.
- Must be computer literate
- Negotiating skills geared to both long and short term objectives
