Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding clinical and professional leader to join a progressive, values driven organisation. The Deputy Director of Quality, Nursing and Healthcare Professionals will lead on the day to day implementation of the key Trust strategies and will be a key leader in helping achieve our Big Ambitions. As one of two Deputy Director of Quality, Nursing and Healthcare Professionals the portfolios will be shared. Colleagues will provide joint leadership and line management over a number of portfolios related to quality governance and professional practice.

Through highly visible nursing leadership and attendance to professional standards, the postholder will lead a range of duties and responsibilities to support service user recovery and independence, safe effective and evidence-based practice and high-quality care across the trust.

As a member of the senior nursing, healthcare professionals and quality governance leadership team, the post holder is responsible for ensuring services within the organisation comply with CQC registration and regulatory requirements, national and local performance targets, annual strategic and business plan priorities, and internal clinical and quality governance processes.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure that the shared organisational vision and strategic ambitions, values and culture of the Trust are actively promoted and that the post-holder provides clear leadership and is a role model for their delivery.
  • To provide expert nursing advice in the development, delivery and evaluation of services across the trust.
  • Provide a professional leadership and advisory role for nursing and AHPs across the trust.
  • Demonstrate high levels of astuteness and political awareness.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate quality governance arrangements are in place.
  • Ensure governance arrangements are maintained and tested to provide assurance that quality standards and outcomes are delivered for patients and their carers and that staff are supported in a safe environment.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • A Professional qualification in a clinical specialty
  • Professional registration
  • Masters' Degree in health related subject or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development post graduate study in relevant field, management or associated topic

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive senior management/professional leadership experience in a large complex NHS organization
  • Experience of working with Trust Board and deputising at Executive level
  • Experience of effective partnership working with a range of agencies and stakeholders

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Understanding of National Strategies and their application for Nursing and Therapies
  • Expert knowledge of safeguarding, infection prevention, compliance , clinical governance, risk management, improving patient safety, experience and clinical effectiveness

Disclosure Barring Certificate check

All of our new starters, who are appointed to a post which requires a Disclosure Barring Certificate check (DBS), will be recharged for the full cost of the check (DBS checks for volunteers are free of charge).

An enhanced DBS check costs £38 and a standard check costs £18 (plus an administration charge of £3.50). If you are a substantive member of staff, the full amount will be taken from your first month's salary.

If you are a member of staff on our bank, you will need to repay the full amount from your first salary.

We encourage you to register with the DBS update service at an annual cost of £13 (this is mandatory for bank staff).
