Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and aspirational leader to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) as Deputy Director of Midwifery and Neonatology. ICHT have expanded their senior midwifery leadership structure to ensure there is strong leadership to take forward recommendations from the national maternity and neonatology strategy including essential actions from the NHS Long term plan (2019), Ockenden review (2022), the Single Delivery plan for maternity and neonatology services (2023), and maternity national policy.
This is an exciting time to join our Midwifery and Neonatal team, influencing the development of our future models of care. We are looking for a highly competent, motivated individual with experience and skills to build excellent relationships and to provide strategic professional midwifery leadership.
We are seeking an individual with a meticulous level of operational experience at a senior level and who has a track record of leading innovation and service improvement.
The post holder will work with the senior leadership team, the Divisional Director of Midwifery and Neonatology and external agencies to help shape our future models of care in line with our maternity and neonatal strategy. This includes developing and refining our clinical pathways to ensure the delivery of a sustainable, high quality service for our women and families.
Main duties of the job
- You will play a pivotal role in ensuring excellence in service delivery, workforce management, clinical quality, safety and financial control within the Directorate. You will contribute to shaping and implementing the Single Delivery Plan and demonstrate an understanding of maternity national policy.
- The post-holder will work closely with the General Manager and Clinical Director (triumvirate) to provide leadership which creates an inclusive, positive working culture, setting high standards for the workforce and ensuring we not only provide a positive experience for the women we care for but also for our teams where everyone feels valued for what they contribute.
- Your leadership will support a strong customer focus, drive change and deliver high performance. You will contribute to leading and managing the performance and productivity of Midwifery staff and associated financial resources, ensuring the optimal deployment of the midwives and support staff to deliver high quality patient care. This will require you to have the necessary knowledge and business skills to plan, implement and evaluate service delivery plans.

Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife with current registration
- Educated to Master's degree in relevant subject area
- Recognised management qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Professional Midwifery Advocate
Experience

- Senior NHS management experience, with evidence of strong, inclusive leadership
- Quality assurance
- Minimum of five years' experience at senior NHS management level
