Depot Manager

We are looking to offer a Depot Manager the opportunity to join our expanding Service and Compliance team based in Castleford.

About the team

You will be responsible for maintaining the Fleet and Plant at our Key Strategic Northern Workshop. You will also be the primary responsible person for the safety and environmental impact of the building, yard and personnel including visitors and contractors and office staff and site security.

About the role

As the Depot Manager you will provide effective service delivery through management and control of workshop & associated activities through team performance/productivity & asset cost control. You will report to the Service Operations Manager and be responsible for approximately 20 employees.

As the Depot Manager, you'll get the opportunity to:

  • Depot Site - Be the primary responsible person for the safety and environmental impact of the building, Yard and personnel including visitors and contractors and office staff and site security.
  • Be the point of contact for facilities on building & site Maintenance & IT Infrastructure, booking jobs with our FM provider.
  • Workshop productivity & performance - Lead & manage Tech productivity of plant & Fleet including Scheduled Maintenance/ breakdowns & unscheduled defects Plus PUWER & LOLER.
  • Workshop supervision - day to day activity management & progression taking into consideration overall workload & priorities.
  • Preparation requests from Hire team & Disposal team- manage and schedule in additional workload and make Available as requested
  • VOR Control - ensure asset availability is maximised by
    • 3rd party work bookings Dealers - Organising and liaising with 3rd party suppliers.
    • H&S management - ensure robust standards are adhered to by all employees and the workshop environment is organised and clean including yard areas. and workshop equipment is maintained to schedule.
    • Oversee, manage & organise cost effective parts procurement locally and for the Mobile Technicians, whilst maintaining quality for M Group.

What you'll bring?

  • Previous experience of working as a Senior Engineer or Workshop Manager role, gained through working as a Service Engineer/Fitter on LCVs, HGV's or Plant & Equipment or in a similar position.
  • Engineering qualification (likely to be gained in a Construction Plant environment, City & Guilds or NVQ preferred) achieved through a recognised formal training programme.
  • Be able to demonstrate strong Health and safety knowledge.
  • Capability to take ownership and responsibility and lead multiple Team's.
  • Committed to delivering high standards of customer service.
  • Ability to prioritise own and team's workload and work under pressure to strict deadlines.
  • Previous experience in leading a team in a safe working environment following all business procedures.
  • Ability to analyse data and produce detailed counter measures to close performance gaps and provide high asset compliance.
