Salary: Base salary: £38,500pa to c.£45,350pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 15% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As a Delivery Manager at HS2 you will be accountable for the delivery of small change projects, individual work packages or releases, to support successful delivery of IT projects of varying size, complexity and elements of risk. This role is responsible for ensuring dependencies are captured, stakeholders and sponsors are communicated to and overall the project delivers the expected benefits to Hs2.

About the role:

  1. To be accountable for delivering a component part of a small project to time, budget, and scope in line with sponsor's and business' requirements ensuring that any changes to agreed scope, time and budget are managed.
  2. To be responsible for reporting delivery progress (including progress reports and papers) to IT Project Managers and/or IT Programme Delivery Managers for inclusion in the IT Steering Group and other similar boards and meetings as required.
  3. To be accountable for all distinct phases of allocated projects, from ideation, discovery, initiation, alpha, beta through to go-live.
  4. To be responsible for keeping track of delivery progress utilising most appropriate tooling and provide status updates to relevant governance forums and stakeholders as required.
  5. To be responsible for identifying, resolving and escalating risks, issues and concerns through to the IT Programme Delivery Manager.
  6. To be accountable for communicating and keeping track of a project's progress, ensuring the delivery team has the right tools required to deliver value based on the user/project needs.
  7. Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

About You:

Skills:

  • Agile and Lean practices. Ability to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use.
  • Maintaining delivery momentum. Ability to facilitate the delivery flow of a team or project, managing delivery timescales. address internal and external risks and issues.
  • Making a process work. Ability to identify and challenge organisational processes of increasing complexity and those processes that are unnecessarily complicated. Ability to guide others through the implementation of a new process
  • Planning. Ability to prioritise the most important or highest value tasks, using data to inform a rationale. Ability to manage complex internal and external dependencies.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of a range of project delivery methodologies (E.g. but not limited to, Agile, Waterfall).
  • Knowledge of an IT project delivery lifecycle and its component parts.

Experience:

  • Experience of working in an IT project or service delivery team.
  • Experience of collaborating with relevant disciplines within IT to deliver customer requirements.
  • Experience of supporting the production of Programme Management or Project progress reports, for the purpose of governance and audit requirements.
