Job Introduction
Reporting to the Area MEP Project Manager, the MEP Project Manager will be responsible for managing the MEP installation at North Acton or West Ruislip by Subcontractors on a day-to-day basis.

Role Responsibility
- Responsible for ensuring all activities are performed as governed by approved safe systems of works.
- Set high standards of health and safety, performance, and behaviour.
- Take part in, and contribute to, health and safety events, meetings, and campaigns.
- Ensure that persons, for whom you are responsible, are aware and accurately informed about the risks and hazards associated with their tasks and of their own health and safety responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Ensure that Subcontractor activities are always managed by competent persons. Record training records, competency cards, etc.
- Ensure that Subcontractor personnel involved in the Works attend the daily SHE briefings.
- Conduct Subcontractor safety audits in line with the SCS HSE framework.
- To pro-actively coordinate the multi-discipline Subcontractors to ensure the programme is delivered on time for your area.
- Highlight and solve any issues delaying the programme.
- Manage short-to-medium term programme (T-4) dates and deadlines with labour and subcontractors.
- Ensure daily construction diaries and time keeping notifications are completed.
- Report on progress of works to the Project Manager and Package Managers.
- Work closely with the package managers to fully understand the delivery of the works:
- Scope of Works.
- Method of delivery.
- Timing, sequence, and key milestones.
- Requirements for inspection, testing and commissioning.
- All health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Logistics and material delivery arrangements.
- Materials wastage controls.
- Ensure effective communication between the SCS site management teams, the Subcontractor and any other Subcontract teams.
- Responsible for ensuring the Works installed with a high quality of workmanship.
- Management of industrial relations.
- Manage site activities including maintaining production, SHE documentation (SOS, POW, RAMS, toolbox talks), quality control (ITPs) and records (diaries and emails).
- Manage logistics and just in time deliveries of materials.
- Management of Front Line Supervisors (including Subcontractors), including performance reviews, verification of hours works, management of annual leave and cover, etc.
- Manage plant and equipment hire for your area.
- Responsible for the MEP delivery team resource requirements to suit the Contract need and support the recruitment process, where required.
- Review of MEP scope to identify 'design for manufacture and assembly' opportunities.
- Development and implementation of mobilisation activities for MEP.
- Ensure the works are safely delivered on time and budget with a right first time quality approach.
- Works are progressively assured in line with the Technical/Quality Assurance Plan.
- Manage and oversee the Subcontractors temporary works requirement, liaising and coordinating with the SCS temporary works team.
- Pro-actively support and input into the MEP delivery strategy (including Testing and Commissioning).
- Development and submission of construction phase plans for MEP Works.
- Lead the day-to-day interface with the civil and architectural SCS teams.
- Ensure interfaces with any relevant 3rd party stakeholders are identified and managed.
Other Responsibilities:
- Promoting and monitoring the roll out and implementation of SCS values and behaviours
- Co-ordination of works with the Tunnel / MEP services team
- Identify review manage MEP Opportunities and efficiencies within your area
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Experience in a similar level role, responsible for the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems including management, construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
- Level 6 NVQ, or higher/equivalent, in Construction Management.
- SMSTS and CSCS qualified.
- Strong leadership, communication and conflict management skills
Desirable:
- Experience of delivering MEP works on a major rail project
- Experience of NEC forms of contract
- Knowledge of industry regulations for design, construction and testing and commissioning of building services (e.g. BS 7671 and Building Regulations).
- Experience of a self-assurance contract environment.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
