Data Project Manager - 12 Month FTC

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Job Description

Your role: We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a strategic project to develop and implement an instrumentation library.

We want you to build a self-organised and highly motivated team, with members in London and Sofia. The team will be responsible for completely re-engineering the way that analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Snowpow are implemented on all of News UK's websites and mobile apps, including some of the biggest media websites in the UK. This is a complex migration project and you will need to manage the dependencies with engineering teams across our multiple news brands, ensuring we align with their roadmaps.

Reporting into the Head of Delivery, this role will support a strategic initiative to build a custom instrumentation library that interfaces with Google Tag Manager. This change will deliver significant business benefits, especially improved data reliability. The successful candidate will play a key role in this transformation that supports our technology strategy focusing on data simplicity, efficiency and value creation.

Day to day you will:

  • Oversee the software development life cycle, which includes tailoring agile ways of working, developing a culture of continuous delivery, and collaboratively shaping the delivery practises of your teams
  • Use Delivery tools such as Jira, Jira Product Discovery, and Miro: not only to support engineering teams day-to-day; but also for longer term planning and roadmap development
  • Raising and resolving risks, dependencies and issues, and negotiating trade-offs and dependencies with other teams
  • Reporting on delivery progress and ensuring timely communications and updates with all stakeholders (familiarity with Scaled Agile frameworks such as SAFe is a plus)

What we're looking for from you:

  • Experience in data migration projects, working with tagging management systems (e.g. GTM, Tealium etc) desirable but not essential
  • Adept at working with offshore engineering teams, keeping them focused, motivated and engaged.
  • Experience in working with Agile projects (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), and managing external dependencies and stakeholders across the business.
  • A background in working with Data.
  • Excellent time management skills

If you think you have what it takes but don't tick every requirement on the list, please do apply. We recognise that considering someone's potential as well as their experience is a great way to hire. We want to hear from people who have a passion to learn and develop.
