Purpose of the Job

  • Providing Technical leadership, management, and development of a defined contract, ensuring technical commitments are met and exceeded.
  • Ensuring Risk Mitigation measures are in place for the assets under contract.
  • Technical Lead on a Data Centre Campus and the SAP.
  • Support Account Management teams and other stakeholders in the delivery of all services within the scope of the role, and provide shoulder to shoulder technical service input as required to enhance the credibility of the company
  • Responsible for overseeing technical matters relating to the effective Plant and Equipment Maintenance on the Client's sites
  • Liaison with Data Centre Manager and Client to ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with site policies and procedures and within health and safety legislative requirements.
  • Undertake Authorised Engineer / AP duties, on site, are available for support out of office hrs.
  • The Technical Manager will act as the Focal Point for all Technical matters and will provide portfolio wide technical support with site specific works, training or such other times deemed necessary.
  • The position will be the point of contact for checking CBRE Technical project progress on time and in budget, for Technical Issues liaising and supporting the BU Technical Manager

Key responsibilities are as follows

  • Provide leadership and ensure that Technical commitments are met and exceeded.
  • Support the Data Centre Manager in ensuring the CERMTM methodology is embedded across the campus and demonstrate compliance.
  • Ensure that all CBRE engineers are trained and competent to carry out their role and there are adequate APs available to operate the sites - including arranging sessions for manufacturers training and overseeing the training budget.
  • Ensure the provision of healthy and safe working conditions and that both the client and Company health and safety policy and process is effectively implemented across both CBRE and subcontractor's activities and are regularly reviewed.
  • Provision of Technical support in all aspects of contract, including shutdowns, CBRE Projects, Mock drills, day to day advice, Bulletin/article compliance as needed this may include out of hours works.
  • To ensure that engineering staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to the agreed client standards and that they are suitably trained to conduct activities.
  • Technical Liaison for All site team, client and Apprentices, to aid technical development, communication with Tutors Portfolio familiarisation, succession and training plans etc.
  • Coaching and mentoring members of the operational team.
  • Provide development instructions and guidance for staff where appropriate in the use of own technical ability, knowledge within the limits of their competence all in accordance with the client's and CBRE working rules and clients local working rules.
  • Ensure that all sites are always statutory and mandatory (contractually) compliant for services delivered within scope, and robust and rigorous means of recording this are maintained. Namely OPS, Bulletin/article, NEDeRS, CMMS, CFIR, CERM with all relevant statutory and non-statutory legislation/guidance & Industry, bulletins/ CIBSE IET etc best practices.
  • Technical Sub contractor renewals, management & continued reviews/audits.
  • Lead the corrective action (exception workshop) Lifecycle of key components and present data to CBRE and client SLT.
  • Interact with customers and take positive action in order to ensure that the company is the supplier of choice for all services within our scope of offering, particularly in relation to Data Centres, FM and project related opportunities.
  • Contribute to the overall management of the business, develop good relationships with all persons/parties associated with the company.
  • Attend finance, operational and team briefings, client, sub-contractor meetings, client Technical forums and any meeting as required in order to complete the designated role and its associated functions. Maintain excellent client relationships and communicate at every opportunity.
  • Ensure that all written communication represents a professional image to customers, and staff.
  • Actively seek and identify opportunities for innovation and business improvement measures within responsible contractual areas.
  • Form part of CMT (Crisis Management Team), Attend to and take all necessary action, statutory or otherwise, in the event of incidents and take such action as may be appropriate.
  • Liaises with the CBRE central teams to drive continued innovation.
  • Lead investigations of incidents or accidents to ensure impartial and Technical Advice and direction to ensure as far as possible the incident or accident does not occur again.
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by senior management in order to meet the operational requirements of the business.
  • To ensure that systems and processes are in place to ensure compliance to agreed client and CBRE standards.
  • To ensure that engineering staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to the agreed client standards and that they are suitably trained to conduct activities.
  • Support client with construction and renewal project information and guidance & review technical submissions.
  • Lead lessons learnt meetings and present improvements back into the CBRE and client team.
  • Review and advise on client's Opex & Capex budget.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • IT literate in MS Office and systems management software.
  • Management experience in dealing with sub-contractors and supply chain partners.
  • Able to co-ordinate and manage multiple works, end-to-end across a diverse and complex site.
  • Experience in previous Data Centre environment
  • Have strong quantitative and technical skills
  • Awareness of health, safety, and compliance
  • Excellent organization skills, to plan the use of people and resources to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - with the ability to communicate effectively, influence and co-ordinate others.
  • Ability to monitor and control budgets.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, to manage expectations across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in Building Maintenance training e.g., BMS.
  • Experience in CAFM systems.
