The role

The DA Operations Manager reports into the Head of Underwriting Management & Operations and is primarily responsible for the monitoring of 1856 and 218 delegated authority business; working closely with the Heads of Divisions and their underwriting teams, assisting in all matters relating to the smooth running of the day-to-day delegated authority operations in Syndicate 1856.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of delegated authority operations in 1856 and 218.
  • Establish a monitoring and supervision framework for delegated authority operations.
  • Manage and oversee all outsourced process related delegated authority including Bordereaux processing, ensuring process standardisation across all COBs.
  • Ensure the DA team structure and resource level is aligned to growth plans and provides a consistently high standard of support to stakeholders.
  • Be recognised as the "go to" person for delegated authority operational support, championing best practice and ensuring consistency across the underwriting function.
  • Monitor accuracy of delegated authority operational outputs, to ensure it meets the Heads of Divisions expectations; implement revised processes if applicable to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Produce DA operational training and onboarding material for new joiners within DA team.
  • Manage the outsource of delegated authority underwriting data capture.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Significant operational experience working in Delegated Authority within an insurance company, ideally Lloyd's.
  • Attention to detail, excellent process understanding and investigative skills.
  • Strong analytical, written and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the business in a confident and professional manner.
  • IT literate with experience of third-party management systems.
  • Managing and coaching a team.
