Position

This is a key position supporting the work of our children and young people team.

Henshaws are looking for reliable and enthusiastic volunteers to help support sight impaired and severely sight impaired children and young people and their families at our events.

CYP Activities Volunteers will lead and assist a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, games, etc. to engage and support the children's emotional wellbeing and enhance their confidence and resilience. Activity sessions will be carried out in venues across Manchester and Liverpool, supported by the Sessional Play workers and CYP Enablement Officers.

This post is a volunteer role, however you will be reimbursed any reasonable expenditure.

DBS with child barring is required for this role - Henshaws will complete this on successful appointment to the role.

Requirements

Commitment:

Events are ad-hoc and predominately run in school holidays and at weekends.

Volunteer profile:

  • Have direct experience of working with children and young people is desirable.
  • Be reliable and committed to promoting the enjoyment and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Organised.
  • A flexible and positive approach.
  • Adaptability to the role's requirements.
  • Personable when speaking with members of the public, staff, and other volunteers.
  • Being sensitive to providing support within a care environment.
