Job Title: Cyber Security Engineer

Salary: Circa £48,000 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work as part of a team safeguarding BAE Systems UK enterprise IT infrastructure against cyber threats through the configuration, installation and maintenance of Cyber Security Technical Control Software solutions and compensating controls
  • Supporting SIEM (On-premise and Cloud), SOAR, Protection and Monitoring technologies
  • Continuously work towards organisational, departmental and individual objectives and uphold security standards and principles
  • Production of targeted and concise material that can be easily understood by service stakeholders
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with BAE Systems peers, to ensure a consistency of approach both internally to BAE Systems and externally to industry working groups
  • Provide on call duties as required

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • A good technical background with a proven experience in a Cyber Security role
  • An open and communicative style that engenders trust and promotes good working relationships
  • Proven experience of maintaining and configuring RHEL and Microsoft Windows Platforms
  • Diligent and pays close attention to detail to ensure that records, emails and instructions are produced to a consistently high standard

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of deploying, maintaining and configuring a Splunk Enterprise Platform
  • Knowledge of maintaining and configuring an Azure Sentinel platform

The EIT Cyber Security Engineering SIEM team:

Within EIT Cyber Security Engineering – Team SIEM, the primary focus is to provide and maintain the UK Cyber Security Operations Enhanced Protective Monitoring Capability platform (EPMC). The SIEM, both on-premise and cloud based, collates system logs to create a searchable dataset for analysis. This allows the EIT Cyber Security Operations Centre to monitor, search, analyse and visualise the data for potential threat alerts. You’ll be joining a function that’s been recognised, including recent award wins at The Lawyer Awards, the Legal Business Awards 2024 and shortlisted in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Europe Awards 2024.
