We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Technical Manager to lead our technical team and drive excellence in our operations. The Technical Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the technical aspects of our projects, ensuring that our team delivers innovative solutions on time and within budget. This role involves managing a small team of engineers and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of technical and business objectives for both internal and external clients. Client satisfaction and organisational growth are crucial in this role, so the successful candidate must be passionate about delivering exceptional service to our clients.

The details:

  • Fully office based with our fun and vibrant team in Whiteley, Hampshire (near Solent Hotel)
  • Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm
  • 29 days per year PLUS additional leave for late starts, early finishes, long lunches, appointments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the technical team, providing guidance and mentorship to team members while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the technical team, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with product management and business stakeholders to define technical requirements and project scope.
  • Develop and implement technical strategies that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, ensuring the team is trained on relevant tools and practices.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for technical projects.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices in all technical operations.
  • Act as an escalation point for issues from internal and external clients.
  • Delivery of metrics and reporting to senior management.
  • Provide support to the Sales team for new projects, design and pitch.
  • Client strategy - reviews, acting as a point of contact for Tech.
  • Back office operations such as supplier management, systems, license reconciliation.
  • Provide out-of-hours support to the team.
  • Maintain inventory records of all Company IT equipment.
  • Maintain and review all compliance requirements around Cyber security and GDPR.
  • Support the Senior Management Team to determine current and future IT needs and implement strategies to meet organisations requirements, ensuring project timelines are met.

Essential criteria:

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical management or leadership role, managing technical teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of managing third party providers in the delivery of Technology services.
  • Experience of managing cyber security.
  • Strong Microsoft systems software M365, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Intune and Autopilot.
  • Experience of Cloud/SaaS technologies.
  • Experience, managing and monitoring metrics and service KPIs across a range of services and reporting at all levels.
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience in working to ITIL standards.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.

Desirable criteria:

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Certifications in Microsoft 365 and/or Azure Administration.
  • Certifications in ITIL 4.
  • Experience of taking a company through cyber security accreditation such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience of some or all the following:
    • Salesforce / Autotask
    • LAN/WAN products and protocols
    • Internet and web technologies
    • Desktop & server hardware
    • Watchguard Firewalls, Unifi Switches and Access Points
    • Webroot, Datto RMM
