Credit Risk Capital and Impairment Manager
This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.
How you'll help us live our purpose
We've been helping our members save for their future and buy their own home since 1875. Join us and you'll play a big role in helping us to put home ownership within reach of more people, generation after generation.
It's a purpose that drives everything we do. And you can play your part too - join our dedicated team in Credit Risk as a Credit Risk Capital and Impairment Manager.
How you'll make a difference
Step into a pivotal role where your expertise will shape the financial resilience of our Society. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive decision-making by ensuring our capital and provisions are robust, aligned with the credit risk of our portfolio, and clearly understood across the organisation.
As the Credit Risk Capital and Impairment Manager, you'll be at the forefront of analytical and assurance activities that underpin the Society's financial strength. You'll collaborate closely with the Credit Risk Modelling team and Finance to interpret and explain key movements, lead the development of Post Model Adjustments where required over and above IFRS9 outputs, and provide critical assurance to both internal and external audit and validation teams.
You'll also lead and inspire a small team of analysts, guiding them to deliver insightful analysis on capital and provision movements. Your work will directly support regulatory reporting and provision assurance, while your leadership will drive continuous improvement in MI and reporting. By identifying emerging risks and opportunities, you'll help shape strategies that protect and enhance the Society's capital and impairment position.
Your exceptional leadership capabilities will inspire and empower. We're proud of our inclusive culture and you'll preserve and elevate this; inspiring people through authentic role modelling of our behaviours, while deliberately and consistently driving high performance as you coach and nurture talent.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on complexity, enjoys influencing senior stakeholders, and excels at translating technical insights into clear, actionable recommendations. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact and help steer the Society's financial future, we'd love to hear from you.
What will you bring to the role?
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- A high level of resilience with an ability to work collaboratively across departments, building strong relationships in order to manage senior stakeholders and external auditors
- An ability to communicate complex information to influence key stakeholders through the production of written reports and clear, effective presentations
- Experience leading a small team of analysts, both with day to day practical support and through coaching and development to support their career progression
- A track record of successfully planning, executing and delivering long term analytical projects
- Proven previous experience working in an analytical role, including hands on experience using SAS/SQL or similar analytical tools
- Previous experience of financial services - experience of working in a Credit Risk role within secured lending and/or a capital and impairment or modelling function would be highly advantageous.
- Experience of working in or alongside a Credit Risk collections function is desirable, as is knowledge and experience of collections processes, policy and strategy.
In return, you'll get the best from us:
- Annual bonus up to 12%
- Matched pension contributions up to 10%
- 26 days holiday, plus bank holidays and holiday purchase scheme
- Colleague Mortgage and Saver products
- Electric vehicle / Cycle to Work scheme
- 2 days' volunteering per year
We'll give you a place to belong with the support to learn, develop and shape a meaningful career.
