This is an exciting opportunity to join Saga Magazine as our Creative Director, where you'll take full ownership of the visual and creative direction for all our content platforms. From our monthly print subscription and online magazine app to social media, website and podcasts-you'll set the vision and inspire excellence throughout. Our Working Approach in Publishing

At Saga, we embrace a hybrid work model-mainly working from London with regular in-office days on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Occasionally, we gather at our coastal Folkestone office to connect and celebrate as a wider team.

Role Responsibility
• Champion a consistent visual identity and brand stewardship across all channels, collaborating closely with editorial and digital teams.
• Establish and communicate clear creative guidelines covering typography, imagery, photography and videography.
• Work with editorial colleagues to plan future magazine issues, newsletters and digital content, crafting a unified creative strategy.
• Ensure all creative output meets the highest standards of quality.
• Partner with production teams, repro houses and printers to guarantee exceptional final products.
• Support editorial leadership to design creative plans that enhance editorial content.
• Collaborate with the Commercial Manager on advertorials and brand partnerships.
• Manage art and picture budgets efficiently with the Picture Desk.
• Lead cover photoshoot planning, attending shoots and overseeing creative control for multi-channel use.
• Develop relationships with industry professionals, bringing in top photographers, illustrators and videographers.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a proven Creative Director and inventive thinker, always keen to explore new formats like interactive web features, motion graphics and AR covers. You're an expert in videography and know how to harness this to drive content forward. Staying ahead of industry trends, you understand the magazine sector and our customer base inside out.
• Experience working across a variety of magazine titles
• Proven leadership in creative output for multiplatform environments
• Expertise in commissioning illustration work
• Strong coaching and appraisal skills
• Ability to balance big-picture vision with meticulous attention to detail
• Expert user of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, AfterEffects)
• Professional grasp of photography and retouching (Photoshop proficiency)
• Solid understanding of online flatplanning software
• Comprehensive knowledge of the repro print process
• In-depth expertise in videography
