Craft Practitioner

AWE is recruiting a Craft Practitioner with a good mechanical engineering background.  You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of planned and reactive activities on plant and equipment which can include installations, repairs, replacement, calibration, testing, modifications, etc.

Location - Reading / Basingstoke area

Key Accountabilities:

• Applying craft skills and working in accordance with task instructions in a safe and effective manner to optimise building processes, plant and equipment availability.

• Safeguard the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards, and maintain current knowledge of all applicable procedures, legislation and safety measures, taking an active role in the implementation safe systems of work and work instructions.

• Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and escalate to line or facility management any matter revealed during work activity, indicating that the safe operation or the safe condition of the plant that may be affected.

• To work individually or in a team to apply learnt technical skills to a wide range of applications and providing technical advice and guidance to Customers and Stakeholders in field of expertise.

• To work in a professional and flexible manner across a variety of locations as delegated to meet the programme and company needs. • Understand and demonstrate competence and practical demonstration of relevant legislation and process guidelines for appropriate area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Gather plant data and analysis results, using a range of techniques.

• To plan and prioritise tasks and make decisions relating to own discipline or work area.

• Generate, review and comment on relevant documentation and reports as requested.

• Source spares

• Inspect and endorse the quality of own work to ensure it meets the required specification.

• Implementation of modifications as directed by Line/Task Management.

• Discharge the duties for SQEP requirements (e.g. Nominated Persons, CPE, QP, etc.)

• Ensure general housekeeping within work areas are kept to a high standard, including maintenance of own equipment and storage management as appropriate.

• Lead operations and coach team members and apprentices as required, providing a positive role model for inexperienced staff.

• The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.

• Keep up to date with developments in field of expertise including attending internal and external technical training as required.
