The Chief Executive's Office is looking for a highly motivated and organised governance manager who is enthusiastic about the efficient and effective delivery of governance.

Working within a small team you will oversee, coordinate and maintain the Trust's corporate governance processes at an executive level. Your primary responsibilities will be the coordination of business administration requirements including delivery of day-to-day activities and allocated projects, managing a range of business initiatives to effect good corporate governance, and provide administrative support to the Head of Corporate Governance and Deputy Head of Corporate Governance. This will involve providing support for executive leadership team meetings and committees including deputising for the Deputy Head of Corporate Governance.

This role offers the chance to work closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Team, and to further develop your management capabilities and key skills, knowledge, and experience in corporate governance.

Main duties of the job
• Developing and agreeing the work plan for the distribution of meetings management to ensure that all meetings are effectively managed, minuted and that correct meeting procedures are carried out in accordance with statute and the Trust's standing orders, standing financial instructions and scheme of delegation.
• Taking responsibility, in line with the workplan for the distribution of meetings management, for the provision of secretariat support for nominated meetings by:
- Formulating and ensuring the efficient and timely distribution of agendas and associated documentation for meetings.
- Attending and minuting meetings.
- Maintaining action logs to ensure that actions agreed at meetings are allocated and followed up as necessary.
Ensuring appropriate meetings rooms, refreshments and equipment are booked in readiness for each meeting or conference (in liaison with the Executive Assistant (EA)).
• Co-ordinating the effective flow of information across the portfolio of meetings and workstreams / projects managed by the CEO Office
• Maintaining a catalogue of all Board, committee and management team meetings, including attendance lists (which are included in committee annual reports and the Trust's annual report).
• To develop and manage a comprehensive record of decisions taken by the executive team, the Board and its committees
• Supporting the development and implementation of Board and committee workplans and forward plans.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Co-ordinating and providing cross cover for other posts within the CEO Office as and when required, for example in the absence of the EA to the CEO. This will include the provision of secretariat and administrative support for corporate meetings that sit within the portfolios of other CEO Office and, when necessary, other secretariat teams supporting Trust Executive Group leads.
• Providing administrative support to the Head of Corporate Governance and Deputy Head of Corporate Governance - including the drafting of complex correspondence, ensuring a clear audit trail, and maintaining confidentiality, as necessary.

Knowledge, training and experience

Essential criteria

  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of experience

Desirable criteria

  • Senior level experience in a corporate governance role and in depth knowledge of corporate governance in healthcare
  • Experience of working with and providing advice and support to board members
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy
