About The Role

Motability Operations is currently recruiting for a Corporate Affairs Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs, the key purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the Corporate Affairs teams strategy, to support the development of a high performing outcome focused culture and to ensure the effective delivery and evaluation of communication projects.

You will:

  • 1. Strategic Planning and Implementation
    • Support the Director of Corporate Affairs and their leadership team in developing and implementing the Motability Communications Plan, including:
    o Setting targets and KPIs/OKRs.
    o Ensuring alignment with the strategy.
    o Monitoring and tracking the departmental budget.
  • 2. Stakeholder Management
    • Ensure effective management of internal and external stakeholder relationships.
    • Support the External Affairs Committee and manage the monthly engagement cycle.
  • 3. Corporate Reporting and Communication
    • Project manage and lead corporate reporting announcements across the organisation, including collaborating with senior stakeholders such as the CMO, CEO, CFO, and relevant agencies as needed to deliver:
    o H1 and FY results.
    o Quarterly pricing announcements.
    o Other strategic announcements
  • 4. Agency and Project Oversight
    • Work with the Director of Corporate Affairs to:
    o Manage relationships with retained agencies and other project-specific collaborators / agencies.
    o Evaluate activities and disseminate insights across the organisation.
  • 5. Event Planning and Coordination
    • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of events managed by the Corporate Affairs team.
    • Oversee the delivery of joint projects with the Motability Foundation.
  • 6. Leadership and Thought Leadership Support
    • Work with the Corporate Affairs leadership team and CEO Office to:
    o Ensure the effective and timely delivery of key collateral, including external messaging.
    o Support corporate presentations, slide decks, speeches, and thought leadership initiatives from the CEO, Executive, and senior leadership

About You

We're looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a track record of delivery of complex projects that require effective stakeholder management combined with commercial acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills.

The key skills and attributes include:

  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Proven ability to deliver complex projects requiring stakeholder management, commercial acumen, and analytical problem-solving.
  • Relationship Building: Strong communicator capable of managing relationships with external stakeholders, including the Motability Foundation, and internal teams.
  • Strategic Support: Ability to manage multiple priorities and facilitate smooth communication to support the Corporate Affairs department's objectives.
  • Quick Learner: Capable of understanding Motability Operations' structure and principles to align communication with organisational goals.
  • Ownership and Initiative: Highly motivated to lead and deliver elements of the Corporate Affairs strategy, with experience working alongside communication agencies and copywriters.
  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Open to new ways of working, with a test-and-learn mindset and focus on finding efficient solutions.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Low-ego approach combined with sound judgment and a strong customer service ethos.

Minimum Criteria

  • Educated to degree level or with a professional qualification
  • Experience working in Corporate Communications and supporting senior leaders
  • Proven experience of supporting the communication response to major incidents or crisis situations
  • Experience of managing communications around financial results
  • Experience of preparing and managing budgets
  • Down to earth collaborative style and the ability to build trust based relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organisation
  • Experience in managing stakeholder relationships and events planning.
  • Commercial acumen, analytical and problem solving
  • Risk awareness, management and mitigation
  • Management of third-party agencies and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate and work with all levels with external stakeholders and within the organisation.
  • A commitment to excellence and high standards of professionalism.
  • A team player with initiative and a positive "can do" attitude.
