The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Contracts Manager to join our Legal & Commercial team on a 9-month fixed-term basis. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, you will support the effective management of commercial contracts across the UK business.
This role is ideal for a commercially minded contracts professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative consultancy environment. You will play a key role in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of agreements, ensuring they are commercially robust and aligned with BIP's policies and risk framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and support the negotiation of a wide range of commercial contracts, including client agreements, supplier contracts, NDAs, and partnership agreements.
- Provide clear, practical, and commercially focused advice to internal stakeholders on contractual terms, risks, and obligations.
- Support the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including template management, approvals, and record-keeping.
- Identify and assess contractual risks, escalating where appropriate and supporting mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. Consulting, Finance, HR, Procurement) to ensure contracts align with business objectives and internal policies.
- Support the resolution of contractual queries and low-level disputes, working with senior stakeholders as required.
- Ensure all contracts comply with internal governance requirements and relevant legal and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of contract processes, templates, and best practices.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, ideally in-house or within a professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of commercial risk and contract management principles.
- Experience working across a variety of contract types, including client and supplier agreements.
- Familiarity with public procurement contracts or regulations is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into clear, practical guidance.
- Proactive, organised, and solutions-oriented approach.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
