Contracts Manager

As part of the Senior Management team, you will be responsible for the tactical management of the 'Design & Build' contract at HPC looking after Nuclear New Build Generation Company's infrastructure & utilities, which include but are not limited to; civils and industrial construction.
What you'll do

Day-to-day, you will manage and lead on the D&B contract responsible for ensuring we meet the commercial outputs in line with the contract. You will be responsible for contractual budgets, processes, and resources to maximise your team's efficiency and cost-effectiveness for the client.

In summary, you will:

  • support our corporate governance responsibilities for our operational business areas, and which requires the job holder to actively promote best practice throughout the company
  • manage contractual budgets and processes to resource activities correctly to maintain position as an effective and efficient support function for our clients
  • reporting directly into the Director of Operations, and will deputise in both responsibility, and day-to-day decision-making in their absence
  • contribute to the development of the company's corporate strategy and support strategic development in the areas of Design & Build to ensure the company achieves its aim
  • support the implementation of all necessary policies and procedures to ensure that a safe and healthy working environment is maintained across the project
  • maintain an effective working relationship with the Senior D&B management team to ensure that there is effective co-ordination of all activities in support of project objectives
  • maximise team productivity to make the most of resources and being able to show value to the client
  • lead client stakeholder management - promoting a consistent approach, and swift resolution of any identified problems
  • implement business plan objectives and targets as set out in our strategy by reviewing our delivery, using new technology where appropriate and keeping staff trained and motivated
  • coordinate and help manage operational emergencies and incidents
  • consult with our subject matter experts to provide technical advice and guidance on capital maintenance needs to ensure reliable and safe operation of assets within regulatory conditions
  • support the management of contractors to ensure compliance with Health and Safety, quality, and environmental standards.

What you'll need

To be successful, we need you to have:

  • leadership experience in a similar role from within an operational business
  • a degree or equivalent relevant professional qualifications
  • HSE MAPS Test/CSCS required.
  • a proven history in the management and delivery of design/build projects of varying values, alongside running multi-discipline teams
  • experience in the utilities industry.
  • experience working in a highly regulated industry.
  • strong inter-personal, negotiating, organisational, and communication skills
  • an understanding of commercial activity.
  • performance/people management experience.
  • IOSH, SMSTS - Desirable
