Hours of work

Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week

About the Role:

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to farming across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Contract Production Manager to join our Agricultureteam. This role will be home based requiring regular travel to farms and offices predominantly in and around Herefordshire. As a Contract Production Manager you will be responsible for managing the live production of broiler chickens from a group of contract farms. Providing technical support where required and ensuring the highest levels of animal welfare, food safety and environmental safety are maintained.

What will your key responsibilities as Contract Production Manager include?

• Managing, building and enhancing key relationships with our contract broiler producers.
• Ensuring the integrity of Avara's business working in collaboration and close partnership with farm owners and staff.
• Providing and/or facilitating technical support required by farms.
• Contributing commentary, insight and data of market trends and challenges to further the continuous improvement and overall performance of production areas.
• Communicating and interacting with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
• Organising and prioritising time and resources for areas requiring the greatest improvements.

What you'll need to be successful:

• A sound understanding of poultry farming including up to date knowledge of animal welfare standards, poultry housing, equipment, feed, ventilation and bird health.
• Ability to adapt your management style to influence and motivate contract growers.
• A commercial understanding of the impact actions may have at different stages of production and budgets.
• Strong organisational skills to plan and prioritise workloads.
• Knowledge of audit processes would be advantageous.
• Previous management experience and a commitment to development.
