Our Infrastructure and Capital Projects team has extensive experience of advising our clients on major procurements & complex transactions at the interface of the public and private sectors, from advising on initial commercial/financial strategy, market engagement, planning and running a transaction or procurement, contract structuring and negotiation, all the way through to contract exit and transition.
We are continuing to expand our presence in the UK nuclear new-build market, with a strong focus on the rapidly growing nuclear segment. This is an exciting opportunity for an established industry professional with deep domain knowledge of nuclear new build, a robust network across government and industry, and a proven track record in delivering strategic, commercial, or transaction-related advice.

The right individual will help drive and grow our nuclear advisory offering within the Infrastructure & Capital Projects team, supporting a diverse range of investors, developers, Governments, OEMs, and major supply-chain participants as they navigate commercial, financial, and delivery challenges in this emerging market. As Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Deloitte's market presence, originating new opportunities, and leading multidisciplinary teams across strategy, finance, supply chain, programme delivery, and risk. As a Director in our Infrastructure and Capital Projects team, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of advisory projects for Nuclear clients. The role combines project and client delivery, commercial and financial analysis, and the opportunity to help shape Deloitte's market offering in this strategically important sector. You will work alongside market-leading Partners and Directors, leading project teams and supporting business development activities across strategy, finance, supply chain, programme delivery, and risk. You will also contribute to business development activities and help to develop junior team members.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and execution of Deloitte's Nuclear advisory market strategy, contributing to a clear go-to-market plan for private-sector deployment models.
  • Developing and managing senior relationships with private equity, infrastructure funds, OEMs, utilities, developers, and major supply chain organisations.
  • Originating and converting advisory opportunities across commercial structuring, supply chain development, financings and delivery strategy.
  • Representing Deloitte at industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements, positioning the firm as a trusted adviser in the SMR landscape.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary advisory projects across commercial strategy, procurement, investment analysis, JV/partnership structuring, and programme mobilisation.
  • Providing authoritative insights on the nuclear market, including supply chain capability, industrialisation, vendor selection, and global benchmarks.
  • Developing thought leadership on SMR commercial models, technology routes, investor appetite, and enabling conditions for deployment.
  • Engaging at a board and executive level to drive strategic advice and perspectives across the industry
  • Supporting clients in strategic decision-making on factory build-out, localisation strategy, and scaling pathways.
  • Building and mentoring a high-performing nuclear advisory team, with a particular focus on supply chain, commercial, and programme advisory competencies.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across Strategy, Risk, Transaction Advisory, and Technology & Transformation service lines to grow an integrated nuclear new-build offering.
  • Contributing to recruitment, capability development, and knowledge management within the Infrastructure & Capital Projects practice.
  • Acting as a role model and developing high-performing teams, embracing Deloitte's purpose and leadership culture by positively influencing clients, teams and individuals.

Technical skills and experience:

Essential

  • Significant leadership experience (typically 10+ years) in nuclear new build, SMR programmes, engineering, capital projects, or complex infrastructure advisory.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen: supply chain strategy, commercial structuring, contracting models, investment cases, procurement, or deal advisory.
  • Strong network across the UK and international nuclear ecosystem, including vendors, utilities, investors, regulators, and major programme delivery partners.
  • Proven ability to build and convert a business development pipeline, comfortable owning project delivery and growth targets.
  • Ability to operate credibly with C-suite clients, government stakeholders, and technical programme leaders.
  • Direct experience managing transactions and leading client relationships.
  • Excellent understanding of the financial and commercial aspects of energy and wider infrastructure sector.
  • Experience designing and building complex financial models.
  • Education to degree level or equivalent; recognised accountancy or relevant financial qualification preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, drafting, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • Extensive experience in successfully leading and managing diverse teams within complex, high-stakes delivery environments, preferably within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries.

Desirable

  • Experience with one or more leading SMR technologies (e.g., Rolls-Royce SMR, GE-Hitachi BWRX-300, Westinghouse AP300, EPR, Holtec or NuScale).
  • Expertise in UK nuclear regulatory frameworks, licensing pathways, and GDA processes.
  • International exposure to new-build or reactor deployment programmes.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing scale-up, modularisation, cost reduction, and industrial strategy.
  • Expertise in advising on strategic organisation design, including operating model development, structural reorganisation, and workforce planning.
  • Track record of leading and delivering significant business transformation programmes, from strategy definition to implementation, achieving measurable improvements in operational efficiency and strategic outcomes.

Infrastructure and Real Estate

Our Infrastructure and Capital Projects team is part of the Infrastructure and Real Estate practice, which supports both public and private sector clients on complex infrastructure, real estate, and capital projects. Typical engagements include urban regeneration, transport, energy and renewables, and occupier advisory to central government and large corporate companies.

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints.
