Responsibilities

As a Legal & Contract Manager you will be part of the Group Legal Team within the Corporate Services division. Your focus will be on providing high quality commercial, legal and contract advice to RM's Assessment division. This will include a wide range of activities including dealing with the contractual and legal aspects of responding to a tender opportunity (in conjunction with our sales team), contract drafting, review and interpretation, developing and negotiating contractual agreements with customers, partners, re-sellers, and suppliers, and ensuring RM's compliance with various regulations. Therefore, an understanding of law, contractual terms and conditions, the ability to interpret and identify risks and issues along with mitigating actions will be essential to this role. The Legal & Contract Manager will also be expected to deal with the administrative aspects of the role and to take on increasing amounts of responsibility for a wide range of areas. These will include:

  • Assist with the legal review of business opportunities across all stages of the bid process;
  • Continually develop the commercial response bank, standard assumptions, standard customer obligations to support bid construction;
  • Dealing with contract formation, variation and negotiation across all customers, partners, and suppliers;
  • Contract handover and ongoing legal/contractual support to delivery and customer management teams;
  • Advising colleagues regarding contract issues that arise in the course of business;
  • Maintenance of legal resources and contract archives;
  • Supporting the delivery of contract variations and renewals of contracts;
  • Dealing with all administration of contractual documents, signing of agreements etc;
  • Support for the process of 'productising' service offers and creation of standard terms and conditions;
  • Assisting with company law matters; and
  • Enforcement of the Group governance processes.

Experience

The position requires the following experience:

  • The ability to interpret, draft and negotiate contractual documents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the bidding process, particularly for large international or government customers.
  • Commercially astute and the ability to develop commercial models and recognise issues.
  • Strong communication skills - verbal, written and electronic.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective planning and organising skills to handle the variety of work, and to prioritise activities across the team.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • The ability to recognise, assess, interpret, and mitigate risk.
  • Own and manage relationships with senior staff and senior customer and partner contacts outside of RM.
