With a bold and ambitious strategy for the next phase, we are expanding our Consulting Operations team to enable client-facing teams to focus on delivering exceptional client service. As part of this plan, we are introducing a more structured and coordinated approach to strategically important internal projects (spanning marketing, finance, people and digital and project managed out of these functions), supported by a Consulting Projects coordination role, as a shared resource across Consulting Operations.

For this role, we are looking for a talented and confident assistant manager with a professional services background who will play a key role in helping drive progress and reporting across live projects, working in close collaboration with Consulting Operations leadership and Business Partners representing our core support functions (Marketing, Finance and People).

Reporting into our lead for Consulting Operations and Workforce Strategy (a Consulting Director) and for day-to-day management, a Consulting Projects and Operations Manager, you will be a strong team player and communicator who enjoys working in a fast-paced but supportive environment and thrives on turning strategy into action. We are particularly looking for proactive and hands-on 'can-doers' who drive momentum and help ensure our priority projects move from intention to implementation. Other important elements of the role will be a general flexibility and willingness to get involved with and support other priorities for Consulting Operations at any one time (e.g., as an extra pair of hands on leadership events and other key activities run out of the team).

You will be a core member of Consulting Operations - the operational centre of our Consulting business, enabling client-facing teams to focus on delivering exceptional work.

Key responsibilities and focus areas for the role will include:

  • Ownership of our new best practice methodology and approach to project management;
  • Managing and maintaining a new suite of project documentation in a SharePoint site (spanning project initiation, status updates and monthly reporting);
  • Working closely with project leads to help keep projects on track to agreed scopes and timelines;
  • Holding project leads to account for status updates;
  • Producing regular progress updates for leadership; and
  • Generally, being poised as a proactive and hands-on 'can-doer' who is readily deployable across a range of Consulting Operations tasks and priorities.

  • Problem solver, creative thinker, and self-starter who is organised, proactive and inquisitive.
  • Experience working within a professional services environment, supporting the delivery of internal projects (within a relevant service area function, or across functions as part of a central team) - including project planning, governance and reporting.
  • Strong project delivery and coordination skills, with experience tracking plans, milestones, dependencies and progress.
  • Experience in and aptitude for stakeholder engagement and communications.
  • Ability to spot and clearly communicate delivery risks and issues within projects.
  • Clear and confident written and oral communication and presentation skills, with high proficiency in MS Office and strong interest / aptitude for developing digital skills and delivery.

Desirable

  • Exposure to proposal development, or bid support.
