Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Masters Degree (MSc) in Medical Physics, or equivalent experience
  • Corporate Membership of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM)
  • Registration as a Clinical Scientist with HCPC
  • Secretary of State recognised Medical Physics Expert (MPE); e.g. RPA2000 certified.

Desirable criteria

  • Higher Degree (PhD in appropriate subjects)
  • Fellowship of IPEM
  • Chartered Scientist (CSci) awarded by professional body
  • Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS) Higher Specialist Scientist Register (HSSR) or equivalent
  • Leadership/Management qualification

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Highly advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and experience in Radiotherapy.
  • Both routine provision and operational management of a service or significant section of a service
  • Change management leadership
  • Demonstrable practical experience as acting as a Medical Physics Expert for a radiotherapy service.
  • Project management for the Planning / implementation of new systems or technologies

Desirable criteria

  • In depth working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and similar governance tools.
  • Business management experience
