About the role
The Compliance, Risk & Sustainability Manager is responsible for implementing our sustainability strategy, ensuring that all Group processes and procedures meet the relevant legal, regulatory and contractual requirements, and that risks to the Group are identified, assessed and appropriately managed.
Key responsibilities
Compliance & Risk
- Keep up to date with all legal and regulatory matters relevant to the Group's business and ensure that these are adhered to
- Ensure that data privacy compliance, particularly in relation to GDPR, is maintained across the Group, working closely with the Group Information security officer to address any regulatory changes or emerging risks
- Ensure that team members are provided with relevant training on all compliance matters related to their roles
- Draft compliance policies as required and ensure these are mandated as appropriate
- Manage compliance across our supply-chain, including our network of approved repairers
- Implement and maintain control systems to identify and handle breaking of rules and any violations, including audit processes
- Make reports and documentation on potential compliance risks, as a compliance risk manager
- Coordinate and maintain the Group's Risk Register, ensuring that this is regularly reviewed and updated by Executive Risk Owners in line with Group's risk management process
- Coordinate and maintain the Group's Business Continuity Plan, ensuring that this is regularly tested and updated
- Coordinate and maintain the Group's Gifts and Hospitality Register, ensuring that this is compliant with relevant legislation
- Carry out investigations to find gaps in the current strategies, which involve compliance and rectify them
- Ensure that all required business insurances are in place, liaising with appointed insurance broker as needed
- Contribute to new business or existing customer compliance related matters/documents as required, explaining both the detail and value of compliance and sustainability initiatives in the Group
Sustainability
- Coordinate the delivery of a refreshed Group-wide ESG Strategy and action-plans
- Coordinate and minute quarterly Group ESG committee meetings
- Undertake all ESG reporting, liaising with investment partners to understand requirements and time limits
- Oversee and coordinate the annual external ESG audit, ensuring that the submission is made accurately within the allocated time
- Ensure that all ESG related compliance is adhered to (for example, ESOS)
- Review data relating to sustainability, identify potential opportunities for improvement
- Work with the Marketing team to communicate sustainability goals and actions internally and externally.
Other
- Work collaboratively with the wider People Team, drawing in colleagues to support initiatives as required
- Member of the Wider Leadership Group, accountable for delivering in line with Group responsibilities
Skills and experience
Knowledge & Experience:
- Significant prior experience working in a compliance related role
- Experience of risk management, including carrying out audits
- Experience of business continuity planning
- Proficiency in industry trends, laws, and regulations
- Experience of working closely with senior leaders to drive results
- Experience of delivering sustainability programmes
Skills
- Ability to influence others, including at a senior level
- Ability to work confidentially with sensitive information
- Ability to solve complex problems based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong IT skills, including Excel data analysis and presentation
