As part of a newly formed team, the Mechanical Compliance Manager will work closely with operational teams on sites across Scotch. About the role:

This strategic role is to provide mentorship and judgement on key operational mechanical safety engineering issues (vessels, pipework, mechanical rotating equipment). The Compliance Manager is responsible for evaluating and making engineering and other technical judgements on the safety and production implications arising from site operational issues. This role is part of the Scotch Governance Technical Safety and Compliance team, reporting to the Scotch Senior Health & Safety Manager. Working collaboration with the Technical Specialists, to provide recommendations and guidance, ensuring all sites are compliant with mechanical safety requirements in accordance with current legislation and Diageo Global and Scotch Technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with site operations and functional support teams to ensure understanding of, and compliance with, Global Technical and Engineering standards.
  • Issuing Scotch Category engineering requirements to supplement Global Technical standards in the form of standards or philosophy documents
  • Technical approval for Scotch ORA, MoC and other Electrical engineering decisions and monitoring developments in relevant new and existing industry codes and standards.
  • Stewardship of the mechanical discipline aspects of Chapters 3 and 4 of Safety report (MAH and Controls)
  • Setting, maintaining, and assuring safety and environmentally critical equipment (SECE) performance standards.
  • The responsibilities for ongoing monitoring and assurance of performance of specific SECE
  • Defining training and competency requirements for roles responsible for operations and maintenance of equipment.
  • Provide technical support to operations in terms of: HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Functional Safety Management, Operational Risk Assessments, Electrical Isolation Standards, Incident Investigation, Barrier Assessment and Health monitoring

Experience and skills required

Are you a solution driven Mechanical professional? Are you able to work as individual but also part of team? If so, this might be the right role for you!

Essential

  • HNC / Degree level in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of the regulations and associated ACOP, guidance and recognised good practice.
  • Firm understanding of legal requirements around Mechanical Safety
  • Proficient in the use of standard business (MS Office).
  • Full UK Driving License is required.

Desirable

  • Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH) (preferred not essential)

Experience

  • Demonstrated Experience record in a FMCG production or manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in a Mechanical engineering role
