TQUK's Compliance Manager is a guardian of compliance. Leading an army of like-minded obsessives to establish, protect and maintain the highest of standards across our awarding and apprenticeship provision to ensure ongoing compliance with multiple regulatory body requirements.

This person is a stickler for detail, obsessive about audit trails, and committed to consistency and comparability of approach. Interpreting strategy into action and providing strong and decisive leadership is a key aspect of this role and is the perfect opportunity for someone familiar with the inner workings of Awarding Organisations.

The postholder is responsible for maintaining compliance with the various regulatory requirements that are placed upon us, with a keen eye for detail, an inquisitive nature and a desire for continuous improvement.

You'll need a 'dog with a bone' attitude to investigate, challenge, unpick and uncover systems, processes, functions, documents and practices which can be improved, and the ability to project manage cross-team initiatives to embed compliant practice across the whole organisation

Key Responsibilities

Managing TQUK's:

  • organisation-wide compliance framework
  • HUB governance arrangements
  • self-evaluation and audit programmes
  • Manage lessons learned and process improvements resulting from regulatory communications.
  • Resolve complex and/or escalated operational issues.
  • Represent TQUK at events, forums and special interest groups.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and their application in day-to-day operations.
  • Consistently seek to promote a culture of compliance by design and continuous improvement, striking a balance between regulatory compliance and customer service.
  • Administer the annual statement of compliance process, annual policy reviews and ongoing evaluation processes.
  • Act as the point of contact for Ofqual relating to quality and compliance-related enquiries, event notifications and information requests.
  • Monitor adherence to budgets, making suitable decisions and recommendations about allocation of resources as required.
  • Interpret data and information regarding key performance indicators and MI.
  • Produce reports for the Head of Regulatory Compliance in relation to team performance.
  • Brief the Head of Regulatory Compliance on compliance-related issues and changes in the regulatory landscape.
  • Maintain oversight of appeals.
  • Maintain oversight of all open event notifications and incidents with regulators.
  • Coordinate policy and consultation responses.

Other Responsibilities

  • Manage resources to ensure the needs and objectives of the business are met.
  • Work with Head of Regulatory Compliance to ensure the department's views, needs, resources and risks are properly represented.
  • Make authoritative, consistent, and consequential decisions relating to areas of responsibility.
  • Drive a commitment culture, modelling, enforcing and recognising key non-negotiable behaviours in self and others.
  • Identify implications of departmental and political priorities and strategy on own area to ensure plans and activities reflect these.
  • Anticipate economic, social, political, environmental and technological developments to keep activity relevant and targeted.
  • Create policies, plans and service provision to meet TQUK needs based on up-to-date knowledge.
  • Ensure an in-depth and evolving understanding of the broad range of customer requirements is embedded in TQUK.
  • Drive and deliver a culture that emphasises continuous improvement, efficiency and value for money.
  • Understand the regulatory position of the organisation and frame all decisions in own area of responsibility within the scope of regulatory requirements.
  • Take responsibility for compliance of own department, reporting, escalating, monitoring and resolving issues and making improvements as required.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and review systems and service standards to provide quality, efficiency and value for money.
  • Be prepared to represent Training Qualification UK at various forums and meetings where input is required.
  • Undertake other duties considered within your skill and competence to assist the smooth running of the business as required.

Key Requirements

  • Experience working for an Awarding Organisation, or regulatory environment in education.
  • Strong understanding of compliance in education and upcoming changes in regulations and education policy
  • Experience with interpreting data to identify and respond to trends in a timely manner.
  • Strong people and team management skills.
  • Ability to self-manage tasks and compliance with expected targets.
  • Ability to deliver to tight SLAs
  • Can demonstrate a track record of process and system improvement.
