The role of the Compliance Governance & Advice Manager is to provide comprehensive advice on existing and emerging regulatory requirements, providing policy and guidance to business areas as part of the second line, establishing relationships across the Group to ensure that compliance advice is proactively provided, and sought and valued by all areas of the business. The immediate requirement of the role is to document a Compliance Operating Model Framework and work with key business Stakeholders in the first line teams to set out clearly the Lines of defense and the corresponding accountabilities within first and second lines. Once this has been achieved the role will then to look to complete a similar exercise for documentation and stakeholder engagement on SMCR

Role overview:

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Providingregulatory advice, support and independent challenge to Currys first line business in relation to its financial services products, systems, policies, processes and controls.
  • Developing, embed and oversee Currys Compliance Operating Model framework giving clear guidance to first line business on their regulatory obligations and expected controls to manage their risks effectively.
  • Providingpragmatic and proportionate guidance on appropriate systems and controls to mitigate any regulatory/ conduct risks arising.
  • Acting as compliance SME on special projects and representing compliance within relevant governance forums, both internally and with external partners.
  • Enhancingthe SMCR framework and training. Working closely with Certified and Senior Managers to support building on their reasonable steps.
  • Supporting production of/input to Compliance Reports and provision of management information for reporting to various Committees, as required.
  • Liaising with all business functions as appropriate and respond to compliance queries comprehensively and in a timely manner.
  • Drivingeducation and awareness of compliance, conduct and good customer outcomes best practices across the firm.
  • Assisting the Head of Compliance Governance & Advice in developing and maintaining a suite of second line control documents reflecting the range of the team's activity and oversight

You will need:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Financial Services compliance
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of FCA Handbooks, in particular, CONC, SYSC, DISP, SMCR, ICOBS.
  • Excellent ability to provide concise and authoritative guidance in both verbal and written form.
  • A strong understanding of regulatory and conduct risk management practices in financial services, and what it means to deliver good customer outcomes across a consumer credit and Insurance product lifecycle;
  • Experienced in evaluating policies, procedures, processes and internal controls, and their effectiveness;
  • Experienced in drafting compliance policies
  • Good project management ability
  • Good ability to influence colleagues at all levels of the business, including Executive/Director level.
  • Self-directed approach to researching regulations
  • Good decision-making ability
