Description

We are currently seeking a Complex Case Manager to lead the coordinated approach to complex casework related to procedures including Fitness to Study, Return to Study, Safeguarding, Enhanced Support Process and Lessons Learned process within SWS at Bath Spa University.

About the Role

This key role will be central to the delivery of an integrated student journey and will involve implementing a best practice and evidence-based framework to support students through their university experience in line with institutional policies, and compliance with regulatory requirements and guidance.

You will implement a cross-team case management framework and oversee complex student cases, including Fitness to Study and safeguarding matters. You will co-chair the Enhanced Support Process, ensuring consistent management of high-risk students, and work closely with University staff to develop policies that enhance the student experience. Responsibilities include managing safeguarding referrals, delivering training to staff, and contributing to key initiatives such as the Mental Health Charter and Suicide Prevention.

You will also work closely with the Head of SWS and management team to promote and develop innovative, evidence-based case management and risk assessment practice and will represent SWS at both internal and external meetings and contribute to committees and working groups within the University.

About You

You will have a first degree or professional qualification and membership in Social Work, Mental Health, Youth Work, or allied professions.

You will have significant experience in managing complex, high-risk cases and making critical decisions in a service-oriented environment.

You will excel in policy development, programme evaluation, and system improvement, with strong skills in administration, IT, report writing, and presentations. In addition, you will also be highly motivated, proactive, and passionate about delivering excellent customer service while handling sensitive issues with confidentiality.

Additional Information

  • This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore the successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Opportunities for taking annual leave during the months of September and October will be limited, and leave at other times will need to be assessed across the team so that service provision is not impacted.

Location - Mainly Newton Park, but other campuses as necessary
