ABOUT THE ROLE

The Marie Curie Companion service is provided by trained volunteers who offer one-to-one companionship and support to people with a terminal illness and their families. The service would not be able to reach those most in need if it was not for the commitment and hard work of our volunteers.

We're looking for an experienced volunteer admin assistant to assist in the smooth running of our Companion Service.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING.

Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

  • Provide administrative support within the Helper service often within a hospice setting.
  • Update computerised records
  • Assist with office duties such as mailings, filing and inventories
  • Assist with any relevant photocopying
  • Operate within all relevant policies and guidelines, including health and safety, equal opportunities, confidentiality and financial regulations.

THE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED.

  • Word processing experience
  • Good written communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Clear and polite telephone manner
  • Good numeracy skills
  • An ability to work on own initiative

  • To provide two references from non-family members and other relevant documents related to the role
  • To keep to all the charity's policies and guidelines
  • To complete an induction and any training related to the role
  • Complete mandatory training and role related renewals, as requested
