About the role: Are you skilled in programme management, facilitation and negotiation and stakeholder engagement? Do you feel passionate about providing opportunities for local communities to engage in democracy? We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Community Resources Programme Manager to work alongside Councillors and partner organisations to effectively manage Area Committees- a mechanism for local level devolved decision making in Bristol.
In January 2024, Bristol City Council adopted a committee system of governance which led to some changes to Area Committees. A key part of this role will be ensuring new roles and responsibilities of the committees are successfully integrated.
You will lead on planning, facilitating, and monitoring the Area Committee process, with responsibility for managing resources, budgets, and project teams effectively (with direct line management of two Development Officers). You will organise Area Committee meetings and facilitate decision-making processes, including the allocation of funding for devolved Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), Section 106 (S106) funds, and a new equity fund. The role is highly collaborative, and you'll also be working closely with Council colleagues who support the development and delivery of projects, and voluntary and community sector partners who support community engagement.
You will have ongoing oversight of funded projects as grant manager, including managing risk and ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation to deliver impactful community outcomes. Your work will support vital voluntary and community sector organisations, as well as contribute to investments in local parks, transport initiatives, and other community-enhancing schemes.
About You: We are looking for an excellent communicator with proven experience in programme/ project management, grant management, and stakeholder engagement. You should be adept at managing budgets, people and resources, and monitoring project delivery. Experience in a political environment such as local government would be highly advantageous.
You should be comfortable with continuous learning and committed to delivering outcomes that benefit Bristol's diverse communities.
