  • To take responsibility for the provision of sound clinical, educational and managerial leadership to a team of midwives and support staff within the community setting. You are responsible for providing Leadership and Management skills associated with educational, Health and Safety, audit, reducing risks, supporting staff and self-development, enhancing the team leads structure within the community.
  • To provide care, support innovative and up to date advice to women and their families in all care settings, in accordance with the Midwives rules and standards.
  • Participate in the on call rota for the homebirth service.
  • Support the Head of Midwifery and Matrons in the execution of their role.
  • Demonstrate and promote excellent interpersonal skills promoting quality written, verbal and nonverbal communication reports.
  • Have sound safeguarding knowledge level 3 and be able to recognise and guide junior staff in all aspects of safeguarding vulnerability within families. Ability to escalate to appropriate levels and to monitor/ risk assess' safeguarding supporting other members of the community team.

Essential criteria

  • Registered Midwife
  • Evidence of Degree or masters qualification

Desirable criteria

  • Research qualification
  • Recognised Teaching Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Suitable Post-Registration experience within relevant speciality
  • Extensive clinical experience
  • In depth knowledge of antenatal and postnatal pathways
  • Evidence of the application of management/leadership skills and autonomous practice
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable criteria

  • Involvement in audit
  • Participation in Research
