About The Role

We are here for anyone affected by dementia and are keen to reach people in all communities, including those who may be more at risk of isolation through language, accessibility needs, identity or background.

You'll play a crucial role in building and strengthening community links and raising awareness of the services we have available. You'll take part in events and talk to groups to raise awareness of dementia and to identify people affected by dementia who can share their dementia story with their wider community as well as with us. You'll also signpost people to access our services.

We are looking for a Cantonese-speaking Community Link Volunteer to cover the Birmingham & Solihull area.

The role will involve supporting our Dementia Adviser with talks and awareness-raising activities with the Cantonese-speaking community including the following:
Creating and strengthening relationships with communities and individuals.
Taking part in events and talking to groups to raise awareness of dementia and the support services available.
Helping to identify people affected by dementia who can share their dementia story with their wider community and Alzheimer's Society.
Signposting people to access services that are provided by Alzheimer's Society.
You will need to be able to travel independently throughout the Birmingham & Solihull area. Hours are various and flexible.

• 具備良好的溝通能力,能夠與不同群體交流。(懂得廣東話。)

我們對你的期望
為了確保認知障礙症人士的安全,我們需要你:
• 提供一位推薦人及身份證明文件。
• 建議你至少參與6個月,讓你有更充分的時間發揮義工角色。
• 初步培訓大約需要2小時,之後會定期提供補充培訓。
• 你需要自備電腦、網絡連接及電話,方便接收資訊和聯絡我們的團隊。

You'll be great for the role if:

  • You have a confident and friendly approach and are committed to including people from all backgrounds, treating them with dignity and as individuals
  • You have a good knowledge and understanding of your local community
  • You have excellent communication skills and are able to talk to a variety of audiences. The ability to communicate in languages other than English is not essential but may be helpful.
  • You are over the age of 18
